1978 18' Taylor Jet Boat Project Berkley Jet Rebuilt 460 Ford Nice Boat Project.

This is  a great project for someone with a little mechanical ability and ambition. This is a fresh water only boat that has never been stored outside. I bought this as a personal project a few years ago and it went great for a while, then life and other projects got in the way and it has been sitting for the last couple years so I have decided to let it go.
It is a 18' Taylor with a Berkley Jet and a re-built 460 cu in Ford with trailer.
The motor was totally rebuilt by local marine expert Lee Wilson using all new Total Performance parts. It is basically stock with a torque cam proper for reliable jet boat use. The cam was broken in on a test stand and tuned then fogged and stretch wrapped for storage. It is very well detailed with premium marine parts used. It has Indmar water cooled exhaust manifolds and water pump, and a top mount starter. The intake, valve covers, exhaust manifolds, water pump and timing cover have been freshly powder coated. The oil, fuel, and water lines are all braided stainless steel with AN fittings, and it has a chrome alternator. The red engine paint on the block really sets all off. It was built as a show piece as it was to be run without a engine cover. I will sell the boat and engine separate if you want.
The hull is in very good shape, and has always been stored indoors. There is no damage, repaired spots, or structural cracks. The bottom is smooth and appears to never have been beached. It does have a few minor gel coat chips and stress cracks, but nothing serious. This is why I bought it, I wanted a well taken care of, solid hull. I disassembled the boat and have all the parts removed. The floor was dry-rotted so I removed it and the foam underneath and ground the glass and edges in preparation for the new floor but never got around to putting it in. It also has an auxiliary fuel tank that was mounted under the back seat in addition to standard saddle tanks. The interior was scrapped and a new pair of front seat bases professionally made but that was as far as I got with the interior. I was going to paint the hull but you could probably wet-sand/polish the gel coat to bring back the shine if you wanted to.
I have all the mechanical/electrical parts removed from the boat and was planning on re-using all the major parts as they are in good condition. I was planning on replacing the gauges and wiring and rebuilding the jet. I have had a Berkley before and they are one of most dependable drives available and this one probably only need a new ware ring (cheap & easy) and detailing/painting. The jet has a electric Jetovator (power trim). The steering system, gas pedal and cable, and shift handle and cable are in good condition. I bought another throttle/shift handle to have a combination hand throttle/shifter and foot gas pedal but never set it up. As I said, I will sell the motor/hull & trailer separate.
The trailer is in good condition and ready to tow anywhere. It is solid and straight and has some damage on one rear corner where someone backed into something. It does have surface rust as shown but is solid. I was going to have it blasted and painted to match the boat. The tires are good, I purchased a new pair before towing it home when I bought it. The trailer was not built with brakes as the boat and trailer are so light. I have not tested the lights since I bought it but they were working (at least one of them!) when I towed it home.
Overall this is a good project with a lot of good parts and a lot of the hard work done. Available to be seen most any time, it is stored in my shop. Sold on a bill of sale, no title.
