54' Farr blue water cruising yacht. Cutter. Fully equipped. Live aboard luxury
Estimated price for orientation: 53 950 $
Category: Sailboats
Class:
Description State: NSW Year: 1995 Brand: Farr
FOR SALEIs a magnificent ocean-going cruising yacht. This thoroughbred is offered for sale purely because ill-health forces the owner to give up his planned cruising. Construction - in a Freemantle shipyard in 1995 - is of quadruple diagonally-layered epoxied Jarrah strip plank, totally sheathed in triple weave glass/vinylester. That is about as tough as they get. Interior fitout is stunning with solid teak and mahogany used throughout. Cabin sole is a beautiful epoxied Ash planking.
Effectively, this vessel just shouts quality from stem to stern. The 135hp Lehman diesel has low hours which are estimated to be LESS THAN 100 FROM NEW!
She is equipped with every conceivable bit of equipment you could think of needing. Now for the warts factor. The owner of the vessel is suffering from health issues which means that, with the best will in the world, he has been unable to keep up with the necessary maintenance on a yacht of this size and quality. What is offered right now is a yacht that could, very reasonably, be sailed away with just a few weeks work by an averagely handy person. From an aesthetics point of view, a good gurney externally would make a tremendous difference. Just a couple of days cleaning up and polishing internally would make her look like a different vessel. Systems need to be checked out (although as far as I can tell everything seems to work when you turn it on). Sails need a clean and putting back on. A new single-lever control for the main engine will be needed as the old one is seized. A splash of paint would go a long way to improving appearances - and of course she is due for an antifoul before you'd want to go anywhere under your own power. A professional valuation of the vessel - AS IS NOW - was obtained only a week ago prior to deciding to sell her, and it comes out as between $85K and $93.5K. The owner is sensible enough to realise that he is never going to use the yacht himself and has decided that he would rather see it go for a lower price to someone who is going to use it properly and get the fun out of it that he had planned for himself. Hence the reserve is well below market valuation.
There will be some more photographs coming up shortly or, if any specific pictures are required, please ask. I can be contacted on 0416 141 623.
As will be pretty obvious, I am selling this vessel on behalf of a friend and so don't pretend to know all the answers. Some things I can try to find out for a potential buyer but my sincere advice would have to be 'come and look'. This is a serious yacht and deserves a serious inspection if you are looking at buying it.
A condition of purchase is that a 10% non-refundable deposit will be required within 24 hours of making the winning bid. This yacht is offered for sale in other venues and therefore might well be removed from this auction if it sells elsewhere. No 'Buy it Now' price has been given here, but if you'd like to make a (sensible) offer, please feel free to do so.
The vessel is available for any type of inspection and my even be slipped and/or surveyed if you wish (at your expense of course). My own yacht is close by and so I am available, if required, for advice and perhaps a bit of help.THIS IS NOT A WRECK BEING SOLD!

BOW THRUSTERS FITTED Yes Through no fault of the present owner, this yacht has been virtually unused for the past three years. This means that whilst the equipment effectively has three years less wear on it, it also has three years of neglect and is going to need a fair degree of spit and polish to bring the yacht up to scratch again. Were this not so, it would not be available at this price. The interior is beautifully outfitted in solid teak and mahogany, with polished ash-planked cabin floors. This vessel was built at a cost of almost one million dollars in 1995 - and it shows in the quality. An official market appraisal - as the vessel is right now - was done on the 11th May 2016 and gives a valuation of between $85,000 and $93,500. When cleaned up and restored, a realistic market value might be in the region of $180,000 to $200,000. This is certainly a yacht capable of going anywhere in the world and with the comfort and facilities for the whole family, plus friends, to go along. The information given herein is from supplied paperwork, previous surveys and the like. No guarantee can be offered as to the veracity and it is therefore up to any prospective purchaser to make their own assessment as to the fitness of the yacht for the purpose they intend it for.
On 26-May-16 at 17:42:47 AEST, seller added the following information:This, centre-cockpit, cruising yacht has a huge after cabin , fully panelled in solid timber and boasting a queen-sized, athwartships, bunk. Plenty of drawers and hanging space, general storage area, and is complete with en-suite. The after cabin also has it's own discrete companionway and hatch into the cockpit.
There are too many photographs to display so I would suggest that if any interested party would like to text me with an email address, I'll happily send a few more your way. Photographs of specific items can be obtained, but may well not be readily on hand to send immediately.Any other questions, please ask.Happy bidding!
On 27-May-16 at 18:03:04 AEST, seller added the following information:PLEASE NOTEI have just found more information about this vessel which I feel should be passed on to potential buyers. My understanding now is that she was actually built in 1985 and completed in 1986, NOT 1995 as previously stated. It also appears that she was re-rigged in 2012 and at the same time the main engine and generator were both totally re-built. It also appears that the vessel is Australian Registered, carrying the registration number 851753. I also have access to photographs that show the vessel in a 'clean' condition, without the present owner's belongings in the picture, to give a better idea of what she would normally look like. Please text me for details. Thank you.
