You are bidding on a 1972 (approx.) IONA 23 fibre glass sailing boat.Iona is of Swedish design and provides good accommodation and performance with a reasonable sized cockpit and plenty of locker space, the coach roof is stepped and extends well forward. She sails extremely well and with her 760 kg ballast keel is also very stable.SOME HISTORYThe boat belongs to my Dad which I am selling on his behalf as he's getting on a bit now. He bought her completely bare and over the years he fitted her out and, as a talented metal worker, made many bespoke fittings for her including the custom made trailer which transported her from Leicestershire to Lowestoft. The boat contains many of his ingenious fittings such as the Eberspächer cabin heater and custom made fuel tank which contains Explosafe that prevents volatile liquids and gases from exploding. Each feature of the boat he designed has been well thought through and implemented to provide the best functionality.Engine - VIRE 7hp engine. Hand/Electric dyno start. These great little engines offer simple, rugged construction with very little servicing/maintenance requirements. These engines are manufactured with high grade marine materials with the number of moving parts being engineered to a minimum. The engine will need a check over before starting...probably a new spark plug would do it. I took her up the Norfolk Broads a few years ago and she ran fine. Re-furbished Vire 7's go for well over £1000 on eBay so your getting quite a lot of engine/boat/trailer for your money! Here’s a detailed list of her other equipment.Fuel tank with Explosafe, used in vehicles to prevent fuel tank explosion. Capacity. 15gall, 68 litres,Stainless steel tabernacle. Furl reefing with Genoa fore-sail.Rotating boom with standard main-sail.Mast lowering boom 3 full length berths, two in the fore cabin with a hatch and settee berth, with collapsible seat at the side.W.C compartment with opening porthole and a SL400 toilet with door.Stainless steel sink with push button water supply,Water tank with gauge. Capacity 6 gallon/27 litres. Taylor 029 paraffin cooker, twin burners and oven.Chart table with draw underneath, and chart light.Huson 60 marine radio, speaker in cabin, extension speaker in cockpit. MV-2 throttle/gear control in cock-pit.Plastimo 4” Bulkhead Contest Compass.Autohelm Bidata. Depth/Speed module.Autohelm tiller control. Two 12v batteries with change-over switch.Rutland 500 Wind charger with a SR60 shunt regulator.Eberspächer DIL “C” cabin heater with Rheostat control switch.Stainless steel paraffin tank. Capacity 4 gallon/18 litres.Cabin temperature control thermostat.Masthead light, anchor light, deck light, bow and stern lights, cabin and berth lights.Folding tiller.5kg Bruce anchor and chain. Mast lowering equipment.Guard rails, fittings etc. manufactured using 316L marine grade stainless steel.Cabin locker fronts, cupboard fronts, made with Brazilian mahogany.Interior lockers and compartments made from WBP (weather and boil proof) plywood.TRAILER DETAILSThe sturdy trailer was custom made for the boat and includes individual wheel braking. The boat can be towed quiet easily on a standard car without the need of a 4 x 4. The trailer needs re-painting as there’s some surface rust on the frame. I’ve included a pic of when the trailer was all painted up showing the transportation poles in place.*The boat is on a mooring in Lowestoft at the moment and would need lifting out on to the trailer. The local lifting out service is approx. £100.If you would like to view the boat before bidding please message me to arrange and feel free to ask any questions.
