Sailfish 25 is the bigger and better sister to the well known sailfish 18 which is sailed in Practical Boat Owner magazine. A fun, safe and seaworthy boat. Also very cheap to run. We have had many weekends sailing away and exploring the harbours and creeks of the Solent. - - Selling only because we have a new baby on the way. - Additional info on Yachtsnet here http://www.yachtsnet.co.uk/archives/sailfish-25/sailfish-25.htm - There is also an owners association here https://sites.google.com/site/sailfishwebproject/home/sailfish-25 - with an extract of a review on one of their classifieds here https://sites.google.com/site/sailfishwebproject/home/for-sale - - This is a fantastic boat, an absolute bargain, and not the usual ebay project boat. I looked for nearly 2 years to find this boat before finally securing this gem. This one is in good healthy condition and is a good quality, well built boat. It is an ideal size boat, many of the smaller ones are so cramped and with bigger ones heavy and expensive. This fits that great size inbetween where it has the big boat feel and security with the small boat fun and and price! - - The main attractions of the boat are: - *Cheap price *Lift keel - access to shallow waters or the beach *Cheap to moor - most harbours have cheap moorings for this size of boat, especially if they can dry out. *this boat was designed to dry out *New Engine - Beta 14 based on the brilliant twin cylinder kubota engine used in plant and machinery worldwide. *New folding propeller - flexofold *New PPS shaft seal *New Roller Furling System - Furlex 100s with twin groove luff*Large safe cockpit *Long berths for sleeping (I'm 6'3" and can stretch out) *Strong hull *Simple fun performance *New paint system *New paint - Hull completely prepared, faired and epoxied *New paint - Keel removed, shot blasted, epoxied, faired. *New Seacocks *New hoses and stainless clips - - *Mooring availableSpeedwise and purely circumstantial - we kept exact pace with a good sadler 26, we over took a moody 28, we sailed past a 37ft long keeler easily in light airs not only faster but also pointing much higher. We always aim to sail in good weather as that is when we enjoy it the most. She performs very well in these conditions and is also more than capable when it's windy with a couple of reefs in. - - We have done much upgrading and maintenance, however, as with all boats there are some seasonal jobs to do and some minor improvements still on our list. She will need a seasonal antifoul or regular scrubbing (more environment friendly). The wash boards (2 sets) need a varnish or paint (we were going to have a tinted set made). Tiller/rudder needs a varnish and service. The nav lights need replacing (£10each on ebay) (we've always day sailed so never needed them!) So there are a few things to potter with which may be enjoyable for many! Don't be put off, she is not a project and infact all the major work has already been done. - (We are still sailing and enjoying the boat when we can and some of these jobs may well have been done!) *engine serviced March 2016 only a few hours use since.*hull scrubbed May 2016To give a quick idea of just some of the money spent on this lovely boat: - Beta 14 engine supplied and fitted £7100 Furlex roller furling £1200 Hull and keel stripped, faired, epoxied, painted £3500 - - Sailfish 25 - Whilst she's not new she has many of the virtues of a new boat and should be very cheap to run for many years and as such represents an excellent opportunity to grab an absolute bargain. It is a wrench to sell after so much time, effort and money has been lavished on her but we have great memories of fun times! Other inventory and things worth mentioning although i'm sure there will be something I will have forgotten: - Sprayhood Lazy jacks Stackpack - needs a seam sowing Single point reefing with lines aft Depth sounder- echopilot - works great Wind indicator - not connected. head unit lights up fine but cups need freeing off. Speed indicator - works but needs through hull socket. There is a new one fitted ready to take a clipper brand, we didn't know at the time that the one for the echopilot brand is still available. Twin batteries with multi position selector isolator dial Led cabin lights Hydraulic ram operated lift keel. Cable changed this year and spare. Could easily be converted to electric pump. takes about 1 min by hand and is easy. Large cockpit lockers 3 winches and jammers Ropes and fenders Loads of service spare parts for engine, eg filters, belts, anodes, seals, impellors etc All easy and cheap to find on line. Mainsail with reef points Furling Genoa with blue uv strip 5 berths - 2 in forepeak, 1 as quarter berth and the main saloon converts to good double. Large heads compartment really clean and not smelly - actually hasn't been used since it was removed, cleaned and serviced. but is operational. Cooker and hob stainless - have only used hob, cooker looks like it needs a door seal? There is a flexible water tank - needs to be refitted - 10 min job Cushions for all berths and seating - loads - even cockpit cushions!Anchor and chain - bit rusty but it works - VAT Invoice - from original sale - important if you want to hop over to France. Proves vat is paid. - Boarding ladder stainless - foldingTable - removable/ lowersStrong Cleats Good storage below all seating and berths and below both sinks.
