Description
Country//Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom

The boat was built/finished in 2014. It was lovingly built by a very talented carpenter named Tim Banks of Bath over a period of 2-3 years. The boat complies with the Recreational Craft Directive 2003/44/EC.   Specification Length:   3.5M Beam:     1.36M Depth:    0.5M Unladen weight:  65KG Model name:  Guillemot   This Clinker type built rowing boat has been made using Oak and Sapele Marine Planking that has been glued and screwed using Bronze wood screws, all fittings are of the best quality and are also solid Bronze. The boat has then been finished in 1 x coat of Deks Olje Wood Oil D1, then 6 x coats of Deks Olje Wood Oil D2. I bought the boat May 2014. I am pretty lucky to have a small lake on my door step at work and the reason for the boat was to take my 5 year old son rowing and build his confidence on the water. It certainly worked, we have now moved on to Stand Up Paddle Boards. The boat has been lightly used for one summer and I had every intention of keeping it but the Paddle Boards have taken over. I collected it using a long wheel base Mercedes Sprinter van and was pretty surprised at the size of the boat as there was only just enough room. Tim’s workshop was immaculate, he had already started boat no: 2 and had plans to make hopefully 2-3 boats per year on a part time basis whilst listening to the cricket on his radio. The guy really is a perfectionist and I believe his love of carpentry/boat building is his drive to build real quality and highly detailed vintage replica boats. The condition is fantastic, in fact as the Bronze fittings have lost their shine they have gained a really nice patina and the boat is starting to look even better with age. I bought a pair of new wooden oars but didn’t really spend enough time researching the right length etc, they are probably a little too long and slightly heavy but they have seen us through and will be included in the sale price. A nice pair of vintage oars are whats needed. I have an Owners Manual giving instructions of maintenance for the future etc. If you need any more information please give me a call on: 07801 101300, I will try to answer any questions you may have the best I can, Thank You Fred.
