2007 Nitro 189 Sport Fish and Ski with No CompromisesUp for Bid is a 2007 Nitro 189 Sport A True Multitasking Boat. This Nitro 189 Sport is an excellent combination between a fishing boat and a performance boat to enjoy your favorite water sports. Stepping aboard the boat you realize how stable a platform it is allowing you to walk around the boat without losing your balance. On the bow there is an ample platform for fishing and the boat is pre-wired for a trolling motor including a factory installed motor control. Under foot is a large storage locker to stow the trolling motor when not in use. After another large deck for fishing and a live well, a bait well and coolers are beneath deck hatches. When the fishing is complete the boat converts to a ski boat in minutes. Under the cockpit deck is storage for water skis and wake boards. Unscrew the plug and install the tournament style ski pylon that is included will bring the towline well above the motor. On the starboard side is the swim ladder with 4 rungs, which deploys deep enough to easily board while in the water. This boat has less than 125 hours on fresh water only on it. It was purchased to accommodate my family and my fishing habits, but we just don’t use it much so its time for it to go. Everything is in perfect working order, and it has always been stored indoors. I am a pretty fussy person so all maintenance work always done professionally every spring and fall including replacing the impeller every season. At the bow is a standard MotorGuide trolling motor with removable bracket and all the controls. The bow features both in-deck storage and a livewell. There is also a bow pedestal seat mount for fishing. The pedestal seats do double duty as they are part of the main cabin seats when not needed for fishing.The Nitro 189 Sport also provides bow deck lounging cushions, complete with padded backrests for when just lying out in the sun beats casting for fish. The cushions can be removed for when you need all the walk-around space on the 189 Sport’s broad forward deck. There are also convenient hand holds for the front passengers when the boat is underway.Behind the WheelBehind the full, wrap-around windshield in the main cabin, the helm is sleekly designed and up level in appearance with black on white instruments set in a silver surround. Auxiliary electrics are controlled by sturdy toggle switches and backed up by circuit breakers so no fuses will ever need to be replaced. Both the captain’s and passenger seat are well padded and can swivel.There are cup holders conveniently located near all the seating positions throughout the 189 Sport. The passenger console features three storage compartments, one that houses a marine-use CD stereo radio. Between the helm and passenger consoles is an in-deck storage compartment large enough for plenty of gear.The rear seating area includes two pull out seats for use in the fishing positions, and a center bench seat. Throughout the cabin are handholds for the passengers and numerous cupholders placed within reach. The main cabin offers enough space to move around but it is not expansive. Behind the rear seats is a wide, though narrow, compartment that could hold a set of fishing rods.At the stern is another fishing platform with a through-the-deck ski pylon for towing wakeboarders and water skiers. The pylon can be easily removed with a twisting action for when you want to use the deck for fishing. There are also two hatches for accessing the rear livewell and a hatch to access the boat’s batteries and engine oil reservoir.Finishing off the stern is a built-in boarding telescoping boarding ladder with its own recessed storage area. The boat is also very maneuverable at both low and high speeds with a predictable feel. This is not a boat that would make someone nervous driving at high speeds. We also really like the remarkable side-to-side stability of the Nitro hull. When moving around fishing, the boat barely moves, which adds considerably to the confidence when standing and casting.Equipped with a 150 horsepower Mercury outboard, we saw a top speed of 53.3 mph at 5,300 rpm. At that speed the 189 Sport was fun to drive, stable and smooth.The 189 Sport is a great package and a real value in a sport fishing boat.
