The 26-foot Motor Whaleboat MK 10 is intended for use as a lifeboat, officer's boat, Shore party boat, mail boat, or gig and is manned by a two man crew. The boat has the capacity of 20 men , including crew. Most of the mechanical and electrical components where manufactured for commercial use and can be replaced with parts available from commercial sources. It has a full speed of 7 knots (8.05 mph) with a range of 110 nautical miles ( 123.6 standard miles) full range, full load. It usually burns less than a gallon an hour with 5 to 10 people in it, an amazingly efficient boat. That's why a lot of these find their way into harbor excursions or commercial fishing. They have a draft of 2 feet 6 inches with lots of power to pull them off the beach through waves and swells. These boats are considered to be unsinkable due to all the foam in their construction. They are designed and tested to keep the boat afloat and upright, if swamped, in a fully loaded condition. Load the kids and your none swimming friends up and as long as there secured to the boat they'll be fine. Even Jaws couldn't bite through this hull. These boats are designed to be low maintenance and extremely reliable.
