'Houbara' has been owned and maintained by me since 2009. She was professionally surveyed before purchase and was found to be in sound condition and fit for purpose. She is fitted with a Volvo Penta 2001 Series engine (9hp) which was professionally rebuilt by a Volvo Penta Service Agent in 2010, and refitted in 2012. It has been serviced twice since then and has been run for just 50 hours since the rebuild. It is very reliable, economical and capable of pushing Houbara along at 6kts. The owners manual and the workshop service manual are supplied. The fuel system was also overhauled in 2012 with new filtration and water separation unit. The running rigging was replaced in 2010 with new colour co-ordinated lines and set up for single handed sailing. She is registered on the small ships register SSR140438A Plastimo 2 burner gas cooker, with flame failure safety feature, was installed in 2010, replacing the old Epigas Cooker. The electrics are all in good working order. A new leisure battery was fitted in 2015 which is charged by the alternator and gives good power to all lights and electrical items. All navigation lights (starboard, stern, masthead) are working with the exception of the port (red) light. The seal failed, letting in sea water, so it requires replacement. There is power to the light unit, but it just needs a new unit. She could do with some top deck paint and some varnish here and there, but the wood is all in good sound condition. It has been treated several times during my ownership but being exposed to the elements constantly has taken its toll on her cosmetic appearance.AccommodationFrom FWD: FORE-CABIN with two single berths in V-form with stowage under. Each with cushions and infil to provide a double berthDeck-head hatch above for light, ventilation and emergency escape.Aft to HEADS compartment with marine toilet and opening portAft to MAIN CABIN with GALLEY to Port including a two burner gas hob, sink with manually pumped cold water, stowage in the supporting furniture (GRP) and sliding glass fronted locking within the under side deck areas. To Stbd is an L-shaped settee with table- which can be lowered to form, from a single berth, a double.Stowage again is provided under the seating - including a cool box - and under the side deck spaces.Quarter berths are to both Port and Starboard either side of the companionway which can be removed to access the engine.Up to the COCKPIT with generous side benches with slatted timber tops and a similar section across the sternUnder the stern section is a useful locker for mooring lines, etc. The tiller is easily managed within the Cockpit as are the sheet winches on the coamings and the main sheet traveller on the top of the transom.Number of Heads: 1Mechanical SystemsSingle cylinder Volvo Penta 2001 Diesel (9hp)50 hours run since rebuildSteering Type: TillerMax Speed: 6ktsCruising Speed: 5ktsA video of the actual engine running can be found here on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goaGm_HrQHoElectrical Systems1 x 12v battery charged by engine alternator with dedicated engine start circuitSmall fused switch panel for ancillary equipmentDeck EquipmentStanchions/GuardwiresStainless steel (s/s) Pulpit with single guard wires - with diagonal lacing - to similar Pushpit via s/s deck stanchions.Substantial mooring cleats fore and aftHardwood hand rails to Cabin trunkingHardwood slatted Cockpit gratingMain halyard winches at mast with sheet winches to cockpit coamings.Plough Anchor with over 20 metres of chain.

She is currently lying ashore in Newhaven, East Sussex in a commercial boatyard. She can be viewed at pretty much any time during working hours or the weekend by arrangement. She can also be sea trialled with a few days notice (launch and recovery fees apply and would be buyers responsibility).Mooring/Storage arrangements are the buyers responsibility after purchase. There are plenty of berths available in Newhaven should the new owner wish to keep here there as well as nearby marinas in Eastbourne and Brighton. The current storage facility is paid up until 1st July 2016 which should give the new owner ample time to make arrangements to relocate or launch her. I believe there is capacity should the new owner wish her to remain where she is for an extended periodPayment in cash or bank transfer on completion of the sale.If you have any questions, would like to see more photos or arrange a viewing, please call or email me.
