Invicta Jupiter 5.0 130 GT
Estimated price for orientation: 1 750 $
Category: Power Boats
Class:
Description Manufacturer: Invicta Engine Manufacturer: BMW Trailer: Included Engine Model: 2.0 litre M10 4-cylinder Use: Fresh Water, Salt Water Primary Fuel Type: Gas Engine Type: Inboard
This is a boat from the 1970s, fully restored to a high standard by the previous owner (from whom I purchased it last autumn). I have fiddled with, and added to, the boat since then but despite living with half a mile of two slipways haven't used it; to be honest I need the space on the drive more than I need the boat.
It is an Invicta Jupiter 5.0 130 GT that, as the name suggests, is 5 m in length.
Marinised, inboard, 2.0 litre M10 BMW car engine putting out 120 hp (130 hp SAE, hence "130 GT") BMW / ZF gearbox/leg Hydraulic leg tilt (not 'power trim' but hydraulic lift, gravity drop) Fuel filter/water separator 2 off 25 litre fuel tanksManual bilge pump for engine bay Electrical bilge pump under floor Blower in engine bay Speed indicator / depth indicator (the former needs some TLC to get it working)Tachometer Coolant temperature gauge Navigation lights Morse controls for throttle / gear selection Manual choke Bruce anchor and rope (never been wet) Handheld VHF radio (never been used but registered with Ofcom) Garmin Echo 151 fishfinder (never been used) 2 off manually-initiated gas-powered life jackets (might be worth having them serviced) Garmin Streetpilot III GPS with English Channel map data cartridge Braked trailer with: lighting board three heavy-duty ratchet straps break-away cablebrand new strap-style winchbrand new hitch-lock. Two seats forward; bench seat aft New battery Water intake fitting with hose connector (for running engine out of the water) Horn Teleflex steering Fire extinguisher (brand new) A spare (partial) gearbox/leg Anti-fouled Kill-cord and lanyard New fuel primer bulb (doesn't need to be used but acts as a non-return valve for the fuel line)It has got a compass but due to interference from the ignition the indicated heading changes by up to 90° with engine speed (!)A few .pdf maintenance guides, etc.,The hydraulic pump has just been replaced.
I have recently replaced the original (and rather temperamental) carb with a Weber carb, complemented by Ram Air foam filter (and a crankcase filter); a fuel filter / water separator has also been fitted to protect the carb. A bit of choke, open and close the throttle once and it usually starts on the first turn of the key.
The trailer is, I believe, contemporaneous with the boat and therefore prior to CE marks and data plates - I have no idea of the actual weight of boat + trailer. In its day it was advertised as the "...E-type of the water..." with a top speed of "...55 mph..."; the propeller shown in the pictures has been replaced by a coarser pop that I had repaired. In the video shown below it showed 36 mph on GPS but appeared to be too bow-down - I have subsequently moved the pin on the out-drive to trim out slightly. The gearchange/drive has got to be the most mechanically simple assembly I have ever seen on a boat - much simpler than an outboard. I launched and recovered it solo. > > >
Grab yourself a bargain for the summer; if it doesn't sell it will be moved to languish on the top of a beach where it will never get used, which hardly seems fair.
