Very reluctant sale. Transom has been re-cored with marine ply, using West System Epoxy resin and multi-directional fiberglass cloth for added strength. Indeed have overbuilt it, and spliced in new stringers and replaced the floor from the cockpit back. Each stringer has been extended onto the transom for additional support.
New gunwale rubber installed. Originally 21ft has been extended to approximately 23ft with a hull extending pod, its a partial buoyancy pod as the designer of the pod felt that a full width pod would add too much buoyancy and potentially dig the nose in when coming up on the plane. The pod was professionally built from marine grade alloy by a professional boat builder using a proven design that he had installed on other Bluefins.
New carpet in cockpit, and new lining inside half-cabin.
New benches inside cabin, and new marine ply bulkheads and other paneling. Cabinetry and some woodwork still needs completion such as fitting doors to cabin, and doors on benches inside cabin. Have some new hatches that could be utilised in the boat. New stainless sink, needs plumbing up, original toilet but not installed, suspect may need some components replaced. Electric faucet, needs wiring up. I was thinking to use large drinking water containers rather than tap water and permanent water tanks.
New hydraulic steering, new anchor winch, new Garmin Chart Plotter with black box and side/down vu transducers.
LED lighting used throughout all new, LED spotlight on top.
All new wiring throughout.
Dual battery setup.
Trailer is approximately 2 years since new, has been to the ramp 4 times and traveled less than 500kms. Boat has sat on the trailer past 18 months being restored before it was ready for the water.
I suspect the boat/trailer combo comes in over the 2T so it would need break away brakes added, I suspect it to be around 2.5 tonne, but could easily be around the 3 tonne if towing fully laden with gear.
New radios including AM FM set with quality marine speakers.
Seats and some cushions and towers are original Savage, fair condition.
New compass.
New windscreen wiper motors, arms and blades are installed but need wiring up.
New trim tab system included but not yet installed on hull, have found the boat performs to my satisfaction without them, but will leave that option to new owner.
New alloy fuel tank down the middle of the floor. approx 180litres or more
Attached to the pod is a 2005/6 BRP Etec 200hp HO (High Output) 2 stroke outboard. Its a high performance V6 2 stroke which is electronic fuel injection system.
The outboard has under 400hrs use, and the powerhead has been recently fully overhauled with new pistons and bearings, rebuilt back to standard specs. Reason for overhaul was a wristpin circlip failed for no know reason, I suspect poor assembly at BRP. The overhaul has been done by a well respected Etec technician who knows Etecs, indeed rebuilds Etecs to racing specs. Although could have just replaced the damaged piston, it was deemed more ethical to replace all pistons back to standard size. The Etec technician used quality after market pistons as he feels they are better quality than original BRP. I believe Wiseco pistons were used in the overhaul.
The outboard is still currently in run in mode so have not tested at WOT yet. Only a few hours since overhaul. It has a brand new 17 inch 4 blade stainless prop. The previous prop is also stainless 3 blade, I think its a 19inch pitch, can be used as a spare. I suspect it may need a smaller pitch prop to achieve max revs. Recently had it on the Hawkesbury for a long trip whilst in running in mode and it ran well. The outboard is also connected to the chartplotter to display engine data.
Performance wise, have found the boat planes easily, and cuts through the water nicely, achieving 20kts easily, thinking around 30kts at WOT but depends on what prop is used. The Etec will give 4stroke economy at lower revs, will guzzle at WOT like all outboards.
A lot of money has been invested in this boat, still needs some finishing touches, but some very nice gear around it.
Have listed the reserve at 20k, the outboard alone would be worth over 10k on the used market. The side mount controls came with the outboard, have a brand new BRP control box that needs to be connected up. Boat has been repainted at sometime in its life, ideally could do with a total repaint, but looks reasonably tidy as is. Have sprayed some gelcoat/flowcoat to the topsides but still needs some further gel coating to some areas, will try to do some of this in the next few days. I do have some white marine paint and some epoxy undercoat to go with the boat for this purpose. The boat is still a work in progress, with all the hardest bits done. Quite usable on the water in its present status. Will accept payment only after the boat is inspected by the purchaser so you know what you are buying. Just had outboard running for 15mins on muffs and hooked up to diagnostic software still runin mode. No faults or error codes. Running well. Starts at touch of the key.
