Cleopatra Fox 23. Diesel powered. Good fisher/weekender
Estimated price for orientation: 1 950 $
Category: Power Boats
Class:
Description Manufacturer: Cleopatra Engine Type: Diesel with Volvo Penta outdrive Type: Fox daycab 23 Engine Manufacturer: Kia/Volvo 270 outdrive Length (Feet): 23 Engine Model: 2.9 16 valve turbo diesel Beam (Feet): 9
This is Cleopatra Fox (23ft). It looks like someone has done a lot of work on to make it a good functional and economic fishing boat. The beam and cockpit is wide potentially giving room and stability for fishing/diving with a decent cab to shelter, keep the wind out of the cockpit and make sure a brew up is possible.
At sea she should be good in semi displacement mode similar to a smaller Mitchell (when tried she did up to 15 Knots). The engine is a basic raw water cooled marination. She has been tried briefly on the sea but isn't finished. I think it is likely she would benefit from some trim tabs to cruise level at circa 12 knots, a prop with a larger blade area and possibly pitch may improve performance and economy a bit not that its bad now though.
The boat hull is GRP but has been strengthened up prior to painting by two layers of Kevlar. The finish as a result is not smooth but it is functional and strong.
The engine is a Kia Sedona 2.9 litre dual overhead cam turbo (there is a spare refurbed turbo with it) diesel which is in the spec as just over 140hp. The out drive is a Volvo Penta 270 which is ok and has reverse locks, but there is no tilt motor assembly String to pull up at the moment but I have a tilt motor assembly may be ok or fixable which can go free with her). The engine starts easily and runs well. The prop is bent/damaged but could possibly be heated and bent straight as an interim or spare, and possibly the spinner needs replacing (thread end damage) as it was damaged by picking up a mooring via the prop (instead of with the boat hook...it wasn't me!).The cab hasn't been finished and in general it looks like it was tried out on the sea before it was finished of or with the intention to finish off afloat. She was moored when I picked her up and I was there when she was driven over to the crane and lifted. The cab is a good size for a day cab style boat with near full head room, provision for a cooker and a double berth. Sorting this could make it a nice fisher come weekender. The trailer isn't included with the boat and the trailer needs work but she can be moved on it, but not legally on the road. Its a production 2700 Kg gross trailer. I could let her go with the trailer for £2450. Foot Note, the fly hood was on its last legs but has now split. I have kept as its useful as a template and the Stainless steel hoops are use able. Hood could be repared but it is generally looking tired.
