1969 Dolphin Sr.
Estimated price for orientation: 0 $
Category: Sailboats Under 20 feet
Class:
Description Condition: Used Year: 1969 Make: Dolphin Sr.
Beautiful vintage '69 Dolphin Sr. Sailboat with '69 Comet trailer. The Dolphin Sr. 15 measures 14'-6" long. It's size and speed easily allows it to carry two adults. This sailboat is in very good condition and includes a built-in ice chest. I learned to sail on a brand new boat exactly like this when I was 13 years old. It's a wonderful, solid, boat. It's fast for its size . . . thanks to a larger, lateen-rigged, sail than all other boats of its class. In fact, this boat has a BRAND NEW $350- sail made in December of 2015 by C&C Sails in Texas. The sail was made to Dolphin Sr. specifications of 85 square feet. It is NOT a Sunfish sail which is only 75 square feet (I know that doesn't sound like much of a difference, but the Dolphin was designed to be faster and carry more sail than a Sunfish. If you do find another Dolphin Sr. for sale, chances are it'll be sold with a Sunfish sail because Sunfish parts are readily available and much less expensive than a true Dolphin sail. Beware, however, as the boat won't perform well at all with a 75 sq. ft. sail.) The boat also has new halyard and main sheet lines, plus the original daggerboard and rudder. This Dolphin has the expected amount of stress cracks given her age, and a couple of dings, but nothing that allows water to enter her hull. There is one gelcoat repair on the bottom that measures about 8" wide and 12" long (see photo). The original gelcoat was damaged by a rubber wheel on the trailer (which was quickly removed after I realized there was an issue). I put the trailer up on a lift to show the complete bottom of the boat, plus a close up of the gelcoat repair. I have clear title for both the sailboat and the trailer, and all registrations are current (although I haven't but the 2016 sticker on the boat yet:-)This is a no reserve auction, but it is also listed on several local websites. The auction will be ended early if it should sell it locally. I will, of course, honor anyone who chooses to use the buy-it-now feature. Please feel free to ask any questions, or contact me if you'd like to come see the boat in person before purchasing it. I'd also be happy to take additional pictures of any specific areas you'd be interested in reviewing. Thank you for looking at my auction, and best of luck on your bid!
