Selling my 1973 Islander sailboat! The Islander 36 was listed as one of Cruising World's Top 20 Sailboats. The Sunderland family sailed one around the world and made fame of how well these boats handle. Sailing Magazine described the Islander 36 as "well balanced under sail, stiff and surprisingly fast." There is a big owners association and website.
This is a great boat I use to go to Catalina Island in all year long. I always get great complements for sailing her. Every person I have talked to without a doubt says the Islander 36 is the dream boat from that era. You can waste your time and money on other boat but I recommend getting an Islander 36, you will be happy:)I have endlessly gone through this boat an have redone many of the systems. USCG Documented Vessel - All fees up to date (NO DMV!)If your looking for a great boat that is easy to handle, this is your boat.
Watch the videos...Me and my girlfriend can sail this in all weather, single handed is no problem either, just watch out for the Great Whites...They get hungry! Please ask questions.Here are some Video Links:

New wire throughout the boat. It has four new AGM Group 31 marine batteries that are about 1 month old now. The cabin lighting has been changed to LED and the spreader lights are also LED. This was a lot of money to upgrade. The Engine Cranking Battery is new as well.New VHF Marine radio installed and a HF Marine Radio that needs an antenna(was researching a way to use the rear stay as an antenna (Just haven't figured it out).
There is a Sony stereo connected to four Bose 151 speakers inside. Two outdoor Bose speakers are connected to a new external amplifier that gives out plenty of sound to have a fun time.
20 inch Flat screen installed on swing mount.
New 6 gallon water heater that connects to the Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel and can also be used on 120V shore power that heats up nicely in a short time.
Electric head
New Front "V" birth padding was redone.
This boat has a gas stove and oven that both work perfectly that are connected to two new 3 gallon propane tanks with all electric shut off controls. In the last year of cooking for many trips I have only used 3 gallons!
The water tanks combined are about 40- (Never was able to measure them)
The diesel tank holds 11 gallons.
Foot pump for using the ocean water to rinse items in the sink.
Shower in the head with hot water.
The engine is a '88 Yanmar 3GM30 diesel. Well maintained, starts every time with no issues at all! Yanmar's are the way to go for power, you can still buy parts for them today.
The boat has a Maxwell windlass, 33 lb Bruce anchor, mast-mounted spinnaker pole, Harken Roller Furling Wheel steering

I have really done my due diligence on this boat and verified from many old salts as what I should do to it. Even if you are looking for an Islander 36 around the US there are only a couple for sale.I have owned boats for the last several years and can say that this is my favorite now by far. Trust me that you won't be disappointed in the Islander 36. I have invested almost $70k into this boat and realized that I don't have the time to enjoy this yacht I would be keeping the boat if I was able to retire and take it for a voyage, but I am just too tied down with the landlubber life at the moment. I want to sell this to somebody that is ready to sail away. I can help with the finishing touches and the knowledge to get the work done correctly, teach you to sail whatever you need(I just want to hear the stories).I have a new Survey completed last month that gives the boat a clean bill of health and qualifies it to be insured (Buy with Confidence).
