Evolution 26, lifting keel cruiser racer, competitive yacht Redshank
Estimated price for orientation: 2 601 $
Category: Sailing Boats
Class:
Description Type: Cruiser Beam (feet): 8 Make: Evolution Hull Material: Fiberglass Model: 26 Rigging: Ketch Year: 1981 Keel: Lifting Length (feet): 26
Evolution 26, lifting keel cruiser racerRedshank has been in my ownership for 10 years, in which time she has won the club fleet every year!
We took her to the Round The Island race in 2012 and came 181st (out of roughly 1500)
3rd in class Torbay week last year and 2nd the year before.
She is very fast up wind for her size especially in light winds.Lifting keel, so she will live on an affordable drying mooring, and will go on a trailer (she doesn't have a trailer though)
The keel lifting ram was refurbished last summer and all works as intended.
She comes with two full sets of sails, none of which are new , but they are usable, and as her results show still good enough to win with.
As well as a conventional spinnaker she has a cruising chute which has only been used a few times.
The motor is a Tohatsu 4hp 2 stroke, which runs well and pushes her to hull speed with no problem.
There is a yard cradle available which she sits happily in for the winter.
When I got her I removed the steel punchings and resin ballast from the inside of the hull and replaced it with lead bonded in around the centre of the boat, concentrating the weight where its needed. I also considerably strengthened the shroud chain plates and mountings. The standing rigging was replaced in 2012.
She is currently on a drying mooring in Teignmouth which is paid for until January 2017 and she could stay there in the short to medium term. The bad bits...She has a couple of annoying deck leaks, mainly from the Genoa track bolts, these really need taking off and the tracks rebedding.
The fore hatch sometimes drips too.
The clutches for halyards are not very wonderful, and could do with back up cam cleats fitting (which I have) . we tie them off on the forward winches.
One interior locker top was broken by a kind large gentleman who came to view her and knelt right in the middle of it!! this has been repaired but would benefit from replacement.
She would benefit from a good scrub and polish as well as needing anti-fouling. The hull comes up really well and the boat is not painted, apart from the decks as original.I have a survey from 2012 in which she got a clean bill of health and valued at £10k
I do not expect to get anything like that much, so grab a bargain competitive yacht which can be cruised easily by a couple.
Redshank is for sale as I have down sized and now own 2 yachts! There is no reserve, no buy it now and the listing will run to the end.Payment by cleared cheque, cash, or bank transfer please. sorry PayPal is too expensive on items like this!
On 05-Jul-16 at 08:18:52 BST, seller added the following information: Added some bits I had forgotten based upon questions asked by email. There's
an led tri colour mast head nab light and steaming lights. Log, wind
instrument and Garmin fish finder echo sounder, old fixed vhf. Powered from a
battery charged by solar panel with control unit. The battery was showing a good charge last week when I was on board..
