2002 Wellcraft 190 Excalibur fitted with a Mercruiser 4.3 190hp with Alpha 1 leg Welcome to the auction of my 2002 Wellcraft Excalibur I bought this boat over other American boats because back in 2002 they were building far better boats that most of their competitors. There is lots of standard equipment on this boat compared to its rivals (listed below). Their hull design is influenced by the Scarab’s deep-V hull. Which makes her better for UK waters. Her upgraded 190-hp Mercruiser makes her quick out of the hole and tops out close to 50 mph but no worse on fuel than the 3.0. This boat also has plenty of room in cockpit and bow area for up to 8 people. There is enough storage for everything for a day out on the water: bouyancy-aids, wakeboard and ski’s all go in the large ski locker under the deck. There is storage under the cushions in the bow and storage down each side of the boat, as well as either side of the engine. It has cup holders everywhere, which is handy, the main seats fold down into sun loungers and the two rear seats can be moved to form a large sun pad on the rear. And if you’re in the boat of an evening then there is deck illumination and navigation lights. This boat features a fiberglass lined bow compartment and deck which is not only easier for cleaning after a day out it also means that there is no plywood floor to rot! The hull was built using Wellcraft’s VEC Technology (Virtual Engineering Composites) hull process resulting in a more durable and better performing product and this has the added bonus of having no wood in its construction so it can’t have rotten stringers or stern like some of the cheaper American boats. Wellcraft even backed this by a Limited Lifetime hull warranty. The hull is also injected with foam so should the worse happen it will still float! The condition of the boat is very good for a 14 year old boat. There are no tears in the seats, a few marks on the hull consistent with general usage, some rust marks from some of the stainless hardware but they should be easily removable- I just haven’t got around to it yet . Judging by its condition and talking to the previous owner the boat hasn’t done a great deal of hours, it was laid up for about 5 years in a storage hence its condition. The engine is in great condition having had a large service last season featuring fuel filter, oil filter, new spark plugs and a new marine battery (£6-700). It has had a new starter motor this season. As well as a new auto bilge pump. The leg is in good condition but there is some corrosion but nothing unexpected on a 14 year old boat. However the bellows are in great condition and the water pump pumps water very well. The roller trailer has had new wheels and good quality wheel bearings in February this year (£300) and tows very well, but it has been used as a launching trailer so the brakes have been removed but could be re-instated if you wished by fitting a new axle. This has been a great boat, very reliable and we have had a lot of fun on it but I am planning on upgrading to a bigger boat so this one has to go! I may be able to deliver for a fee within a reasonable distance if agreed before auction end and after payment cleared. Will add more pictures later in the week.
