If you are looking for a beautiful and well maintained classic yacht lying just across the Channel on a non-tidal pontoon mooring that costs £800 (yes, £800) per year but within less than a mile of the sea - Here she is!
Designed and built at La Rochelle by the renowned French naval architect RICHARD in the late 50's from the finest traditional materials.
Intended as a blue-water yacht and fitted with a powerful auxilliary diesel and wind-vane steering for single-handed sailing she is also an all-year comfortable live-aboard with a flued diesel heater and insulated throughout.
Roomy cockpit protected by guardrail dodgers all round plus totally enclosed canopy removable for sailing but providing two occasional children's settee berths in Summer.
NANNIDIESEL 30hp engine with Hurth hydraulic gearbox drives hull at design speed. Access under cockpit floor or removable step to cabin. 300 litre Stainless steel fuel tanks in engine compartment. (With masts down and stored, Tara handles perfectly under power and can be used under motor alone to explore the inland waterways. With her draft of only 4ft she can cruise all but the shallowest rivers and canals including the Canal du Midi from coast to coast. We know, because we have done it!)
Well fitted galley with gimballed hob/grill, large fitted cool box, sink, fridge and lots of storage.
Comfortable saloon with dinette converts to double plus child's settee berth, TAYLOR diesel heater flued to deck.
Hanging lockers in passageway, shower room/wc/hand basin with hot/cold pressurized water system to starboard.
Forrard cabin with vee-berth and hatch access to deck, water tanks under.
On deck - aluminium masts with spruce booms, stainless standing rigging, twin forestays for ocean cruising. Anchor winch, main and kedge anchors, kedge anchor rope drum in sternrail. 4-person liferaft, twin solar panels, stainless guardrails all round, Mizzen mast-top wind generator. Good sail wardrobe,
Usual navigation aids, vhf, compass sounder etc
Many more details too numerous to mention.
Lying afloat on her finger mooring at Ternuezen, just over an hour's drive from Dunkirk ferry and within half a mile of a lock to the sea. The Dutch "Mast-up" route through Holland can be entered just across the Scheldt which links into the delightful and atmospheric Veersmere etc.
My wife and I go to TARA every couple of weeks approx so she can be viewed any time by arrangement.
Please email or ring for further info and pictures.
