The Islands 17 is a light weight centerboard boat that is great for racing, or casual daysails. It's not as fast as a Flying Scot, but much more comfortable. Sails very sporty with 2 or 3, or with it's 10' cockpit and 6.5' beam, will comfortably seat 6 people. Great for day trips, as it can be rigged in about 40 minutes, and travels well as boat and trailer total weight is about 700 lbs., (I use our Subaru Outback to tow up to Maine every year. The trailer is a 1990 Loadrite, with everything in good working order, with spare tire and bearing buddies, totally highway ready. The motor is an extended shaft 2006 Honda, 2hp BF2d, which doesn't get much use (sailboat), the plastic coating on the throttle cable is cracked, but doesn't affect operation, motor runs great. As you can see from the pictures, everything needed to sail is completely included. All standing rigging and running rigging is included and in good working order. All Harken blocks are used for running rigging. The mast is 25'. The mainsail and jib total 135 sq. ft., not including the spinnaker. The previous owner purchase all new sails about 10 years ago, the matching spinnaker has never been used, although the boat is prepped for it, including a brand new, unused Forespar 7' spinnaker/whisker pole. I have made the hatches, centerboard cap and the tiller with red mahogony, the rear hatch needs a clip if you want it to latch on. There is 4' of stowage up front, which stays dry with hatch, in the rear, there is about 2', which I keep open while sailing, used for dock bumpers, anchor, cooler, extra jackets, etc..
Includes:
-Magma stainless marine grill setup (previous owner was a more casual sailor)
-4 dock bumpers
-chute bag, mainsail cover, tiller cover (if you will keep it rigged up while not sailing)
-paddle
-18" & 22" danforth anchors with rode and line
-life vests including toddler vest, plus throwable pfd cushions
-sail ties
-reef kit
-2 sail bags
-3' to 9' telescoping dock pole
-tiller extension (Ronstan Battlestick)
-fire extinguisher
-air horn
-marine toolbox with tools and many spare parts / hardware sparesI recommend looking at this in person to see every detail, I will be happy to send additional pics if requested, feel free to contact me with any questions. This is for sale locally, so listing may be ended at any time.
