TRAINING COURSE - “INTRODUCTION TO BOATING” This is a superb one day course designed for those thinking of buying a boat or are new, or fairly new, to boating. This should be the first course you take. It is particularly important if you are thinking of buying a boat.It will be delivered by an instructor with substantial training and boating experience. It is NOT intended to teach you to drive the boat – there are plenty of other courses that do that. Instead we teach you the important other things that other courses simply don’t teach you about boating. Take this course if you want to learn: The various types of boats – and which might be best for youThe different parts of boats, including a guided tourIntroduction to basic maintenanceChoosing a marina – what to look forBasics of navigation, including the electronic aidsIntroduction to boat safetyBasics of tying up and berthing a boatCooking on boardHow to buy a boat This course takes place on board EITHER a 34 foot twin cabin sports cruiser moored in the beautiful north Wales coast OR your own boat (most places in the UK are OK for us) - so you will see things in practice, not just in theory. Note that we do not go out in the boat - we stay moored up for this course. As part of this course, we will also tell you about various other courses that focus on different aspect of boating, including driving / sailing the type of boat you are interested in. We can arrange these more advanced courses for you if you wish.The course is applicable to most types of boat - large or small, power or sail.(Note: We may also be able to arrange courses on other boats if you don't yet have your own boat and cannot get to north Wales.
