Beautiful Historical Dutch Barge, totally self efficient ready to go We are selling our much loved liveaboard dutch barge, which has been our home in the last couple of years. We have found her in a sail away condition and spent the last 3 years refurbishing her and making her our dream boat for the next 50 years. We are only selling her, because our twin ( surprise) sons have arrived in winter and we had to move to the land where our familiy can help us with the babies. We hope that our beautiful boat will find a good and caring owner, who will love and appreciate her just as much as we did and can enjoy the luxurious living on her all year round. Katie Wijker is historical barge built in Katwijk in Holland around 1920. First she was a sailing work barge, than she has been converted to a motorjacht in the 1960s. She has been transporting coal and different type of cargo on the European rivers and canals in her early years. During the refurbishment we have found the base of her original mast and also a hidden box under her deck, which must have been used during the word war as a hiding space. We have lot’s of pictures showing all the work which we have done on her. We haven’t spared time and money, because we were building her for ourselves. We have rebuilt the wheelhouse, changed all the windows, insulated her, installed a new floor and cladding, constructed a brand new designer bathroom with a bath, redesigned the bedroom, the aft and forward cabin. We have also installed a central heating system, which is powered by a very efficient pellet boiler stove. Katie Wijker is 100% self efficient, we haven’t been in a marina and were able to live a very cosy life on her. She has huge water tanks providing enough water for 4 weeks, a big solar system so you do not need to run your generator in summer time at all, a built in diesel generator for winter. She is very well insulated and geared up with double glazed windows, so her energy efficiency is very high. This boat can sleep up to 8 people - 2 in the aft cabin (double bed), 2 in the forward cabin (twin bed), 2 in the living room (pull out sofa) and 2 in the master bedroom (double bed). Her lovely double glazed skylight has been custom built from high quality wood and making her living room very light and homely. She also has a full size kitchen - my wife is a keen cook. Her living space is about 85m2 (915sq ft), which provides a generous living space for the whole family (even for visitors). She is such a superb barge and a real beauty. We hope that she will find a good home. Lots of good people added their heart and best workmanship into her over the years and you will feel this love shining through as soon as you get on board. We have listed all her equipment below: Equipment: HFL 4KVA watercooled Marine Generator 4 Cylinder Kromhout/ Gardner Diesel engine with Brevo gearbox 1200Amp Trojan deep cycle Battery bank Victron Phoenix 3000Watt/ 120Amp Combi Charger/ Inverter Sterling 45Amp Battery to Battery charger 660Watt Solar panel system with 45Amp Morningstar MPPT charge Controller 1000L fresh Water tank 600L Diesel Tank Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration system Miele washing machine and Miele Dryer Stoves fan assisted LPG double oven Marine Undercounter 12V Fridge and Freezer Central Heating with radiators 240V and 12V LED lights though the boat Double glazed windows including Portholes in the bathroom Double glazed skylight Hardwood Wheelhouse completely refurbished from 2013-2016 New bathroom with Designer bath Gas instant water heater (Rinnai) Wheelhouse: Hardwood, dismountable wheelhouse Aft Cabin: Double bed storage, wardrobe big roof hatch for good access and furniture under bed storage, access to the engine room Living room and kitchen: U Shape kitchen, 4 burner gas hob 2ft deep cupboards all along the living room on both sides, tons of storage 3 seater sofabed converts into a double bed Heart of the boat: Pellet Stove Designer wall built from teak and mahogany hardwood Master bedroom: Mahagony double bed Huge wardrobe on both sides for Him and Her Solid oak wood flooring (shabby chic) Bathroom: Designer furniture , bath and radiator Forward Cabin: Twin bed with under bed storage Access hatch with ladder access to the water tanks and more storage place Forward deck: space for table and chairs Engine room: Katie Wijker was painted (blacking and superstructure as well) in 2012 and again in 2016 She has had a survey done in 2012 and a recent one in July 2016.
