Description
Classic Broom Gemini Deluxe speedboat/ runabout. "Purple Patch" is an attractive 13ft classic speedboat from the John Broom of Brundall, Norfolk stable. Originally built in 1973 it attracts attention wherever it goes with its beautiful flared bow and attractive lines. Our Broom Gemini is in its original deluxe trim, which includes the factory extras of an attractive wrap-around windscreen, glove box, speedo and bow rails. This is our personal family boat. It’s in good overall condition and is all ready to use and get out on the water today. The attached photos are taken on the River Frome at Wareham and Poole Harbour earlier this month (August 2016). Purple Patch has been stored in a heated garage and has been used by us on a trailer launch basis only. Whilst, as expected given its age, the original gel coat does show signs of age, the boat is in good original condition. The interior is neat and tidy. Importantly, mechanically, this is a well maintained boat. It benefits from a documented professional recent service history going back approximately four years (see photograph of the wodge of paperwork), which is rare for this type of small boat. Purple Patch is powered by a period 25hp Evinrude two-stroke outboard, with easy pull start and Teleflex remote control and steering (fully refurbished and in excellent working order). The outboard was last professionally serviced in July 2016 by Rob Perry Marine, with a full engine service, including supply and fitting of a new propeller, hub, water pump plate, impeller and kill cord, together with new spark plugs, gear oil and corrosion guard. Our boat sits on a two wheel trailer in good overall condition with a new ALKO coupling hitch, safety cable, jockey wheel, coupling skid, winch and spare wheel and mounting (all fitted at the end of 2015). The trailer also has a light board fitted. The boat and trailer are lightweight, so very easy to tow, manoeuvre, launch and recover. We have towed it behind an Audi A3 as well as our 4x4 with ease. The boat comes with a 12 litre fuel tank (half full), brand new and unused boat cover (2016), two fenders, boat hook, new fire extinguisher (2015), two paddles, rope, trailer light board, high viz propeller bag and a small anchor. In short, everything (bar life jackets) you need to get out on the water. The boat goes very well for its type, with a top speed of circa 20-22 knots and an easy cruising speed (with two adults and two young children on-board) of 12-15 knots. It’s also equally happy pottering along your local river at circa 4-5 knots. We’ve done both and its great fun! I hope it comes across in this description and the attached photographs that Purple Patch is a genuine example of an attractive and fun classic speedboat/runabout. This is a well looked after boat and has had a lot of money spent on it. It requires nothing doing, so do not confuse this with the usual rubbish and “easy project” small speedboats listed for sale. Purple Patch is only listed for sale as our growing family has caught the boating bug and now demands a much larger classic motor boat to overnight on. Our boat is located in TA20 (South Somerset). It should go without saying, but you will need a vehicle with a tow-bar to take it home.
