I'm giving away my yacht for $1.  It is listed elsewhere and k reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Please be aware up front that this is a project boat and would only suit someone with previous wooden boat experience who has the time and skills to work on a wooden boat.  Before you get excited and try to call me straight away, read the ad.  The answers to most of the questions you need to ask are in here, and I've already had a lot of calls so I'll just be redirecting you to read the ad  if you call me and start asking for information that's already here or "what can you tell me?" What I can tell you is all here, but I'm happy to answer specific questions. She won't be sold to the first buyer, it will most likely involve some questions, an inspection, going away and thinking about it, coming up with a plan, then coming back again to visit an rms and sign papers and pay transfer fees. You must inspect the boat in person before buying. Icarus is a 1963 John illingworth designed maica. She is 33' LOA and her construction is mahogany strip plank with ply deck/transom/cabin top. She has a full length keel and is a true blue water boat designed for open ocean sailing. She has been sailed internationally.  I bought her about a year ago and have put about $5k into her but have now bought an apartment and am getting married next year. My partner doesn't share my love of sailing, so it's time for me to let her go.  Fully restored maicas in good condition sell for between $20k-$30k.Her hull is basically sound but hasn't been antifouled in some years (3-4 years). She has 2 leaks, one forwards and one aft. She will need to come out of the water for antifouling and sealing of the leaks but this isn't urgent.  She has had the same leaks for years and the bilge pump keeps up with it. She has automatic bilge pump with a solar panel and battery and a backup bilge pump also.  The deck is about 70% solid but has some rot in the rear.  The forward section is solid, the area rear of the back of the cabin is soft. I have replaced the rear port side deck and combing, proper marine ply and west system epoxy was used. The job has been done properly. The port winch was removed to do the work and is ready to be remounted. The area has been undercoated but not painted. The starboard side still needs doing. One sheet of ply will complete it. The winches are Arco size 40 two speeds and in fair condition. The cabin top has extensive rot and will also need replacing as will the transom. The cabin has standing headroom if you are 5'9 or shorter.  There is a water tank and sink in the galley, an LPG oven and stove in usable condition. The oven door needs a new hinge. The cabin top is not large so replacement will not be a major job, less than 2 sheets of ply will complete it. There is a forward double v berth, and two single berths in the galley. There is no head or shower. There are no cushions in any of the berths. The engine is an inboard yanmar ysm 8 single cylinder 10 horsepower diesel. It is seized.  I have the parts required to get it running again which include a new head, new injector, new cylinder and piston and rings as well as bearings.  They are all included with the boat for free. She is moored in Sylvania near Tom uglys bridge. She includes the mooring, and the mooring is able to be transferred, there is no waiting list for this area.  The boat rego and mooring are paid up for about the next 9 months. Mooring and rego costs are about $500/year all up. The current rego and mooring is included with the boat for free. She comes with 2 mains and two jibs. They are all older sails in various conditions, usable but not great. Some mildew which could use a wash, some tears in one of the mains. Running rigging is serviceable. She also comes with an anchor and rode, some deck paint and undercoat, about 6 litres of west system epoxy and fillers, miscellaneous small parts etc.She can be sailed as she is with main only. If the starboard side of the aft deck was replaced so the winch can be remounted (about a days work) she could be sailed with main and jib. There is a day or two in getting the engine sorted for someone mechanically minded.None of the repairs are urgent. She has been in this condition (including the leaks) for the last couple of years so another few months will make no difference. But you do need to have a plan which will need to include a haulout at some point. None of the work is particularly complex and most can be done alone. You do however need time to be able to deal with it.  It doesn't suit a person with no tools or no experience working on boats. So you've got this far, and are still thinking about it. Think about it some more, then give me a call with any questions you have and to organise an inspection. Be aware that in order to take the boat you will need to meet me on another day at an rms office to sign over the boat and mooring and pay the transfer fee (about $175). This can not be done online it must be done in person at an rms that has a marine section. The rozelle office is the most convenient.  My number is 0406 119 922
