Yachting World Seahorse, light displacement hard-chine ocean racer designed for Yachting World by Van de Stadt in 1959 and first exhibited at the 1962 International Boat Show, Earls Court. 'Gavot II' was launched in 1972, build in Bruynzeel mahogany marine plywood on English oak frames, stem and keelson., deep (5' 6" draft) fin keel (iron), spade rudder/tiller steering. Designed for offshore/ocean racing, ballast 1.3tons iron (ballast ratio 43%), the main cabin and a small aft-cabin (added in 1980's) allows her to accommodate 5, with separate toilet cabin and fore peak.
In 1999 J.K.Marine Chichester, refit and included removal of keel and new bolts. Sheathing the hull and deck with SP Systems epoxy 106 (210 cloth) epoxy and 320-HiBuild coating.A significant refit was undertaken in 2012-13, all major works being undertaken. The refit included removal stripping of hull and deck and new spray paint. Completely interiors, cabin, toilet, engine room, floors, galley, chart table, all bronze skin fittings replaced, completely upgraded inboard engine (used) Yanmar 1GM, including new prop shaft and propeller, new deck fittings (cleats & stantions), new fuel & water tanks, sea toilet and electrics and full-interior & exterior paint refresh.
The original mast was a wood mast,
but was replaced for an aluminium mast from J-80, in the same time with all the new rigging and new sails.
2 Main sail (roller reef & 3 point slab) and cruising chute in good condition, other foresails (genoa, working, storm), worn.
Depth sounder, Garming 162 GPS, Marine radio, automatic and manual new bilge pump, new stove, solar panel and a countless new things. Includes a 2.60 inflatable dinghy in good condition.
It is a perfect family boat to enjoy.
