This Fairline Sunfury has been our London 'flat' for over 20 years and has just been replaced by a larger Dutch steel vessel. Although she has comfortable sleeping for four adults in two separate cabins, with the advent of three new children, the Sunfury is just too cramped for weekends aboard and with a new young family, no time to actually use her or the new boa for that matter. Five years ago we had ambitions of cruising her on the river, canals and the sea, so replaced the twin Petrol Volvo outdrive engines for a very low hours running, reliable and economical Yamaha ME 370 (165hp) diesel sterndrive with hydraulic gearbox. Since then the boat has only been used half a dozen times (about 10 hours) although the engine has been regularly run on the mooring both in and out of gear just to ensure all operating correctly. City pollution has had a go at the cockpit canopy (new five years ago) and the windows, along with some stitching need redoing. The interior is sound and comes with all the usual standard equipment including a flushing toilet with waste tank, cooker and sound system. There is a bathing platform, a VHF radio is fitted and there are trim tabs to help the craft onto the plane. She achieved 22 knots, with a comfortable/economical cruising speed of 18 knots on sea trials after the new engine was installed, plus the power steering makes her finger light on the helm. With power trim/tilt on the sterndrive and a hydraulic gearbox there is an imperceptible transition into/out of gear, with none of the usual clunk associated with sterndrives. The Sunfury has an enviable reputation as a quality all-rounder, thanks to a deep V hull which provides a dry safe comfortable ride at sea, yet is equally at home gently cruising on rivers and canals, barely sipping fuel and with a large 375 litre stainless steel fuel tank she has a significant cruising range. She now needs a thoroughly good clean, some new covers for the cockpit seats and a general tidy so she is ready for the next 20+ years of boating fun. Pick up a bargain and a quality craft which with some TLC and a few hours fettling will provide the new owner with an excellent investment. Priced to sell at £9,750.00.
