This auction is for a phone call to discuss the possibility of yacht use (yours) I’m looking to find someone who might have a yacht they would be willing to share. Perhaps you have a vessel and the maintenance time/costs are getting a little too much to deal with, or maybe you could use someone to assist with delivery so you can spend less time dealing with your boat and more time enjoying it? A little about myself; 38 years old, non smoker non drinkerSailing for 25 years, catamarans, dinghys, yachtsNew Zealand boatmasters ticketA year of experience in the NZ coastguardOwned several yachts over the years and many cats. Just recently sold my Maica 33Experienced in wooden and fibreglass boat maintenance and repairsCan splice most rope types and cableDiesel engine experienceExtensive tools – genset, TIG stainless welding, hand and cordless tools all in uteExperienced with boat electronics – installation and trouble shooting I’ve owned boats much of my life but the cost/time of owning my own boats has grown out of proportion to the time I spend using them. I tried finding someone to share the labor/time of maintaining my own boat without success so I have sold the boat and now looking for the opposite – happy to share the time/cost of your boat in exchange for use. I’m not looking to buy a share of your boat, I don’t want the responsibility. What I would like is some use of your boat (2-3 weeks/year) in exchange for which I’m willing to offer somewhere in the range of about $2k-$5k worth of time/materials/money annually depending on the type and condition of the vessel. How that would work is negotiable. I’m happy to contribute towards annual haulout and antifoul, new sails, general maintenance, new cushions, new dinghy, engine rebuild etc. I’m also happy to do prep work/delivery of your boat as part of the deal if that would be of interest. I don’t mind sailing in bad weather/taking the worst watches if your vessel needs to get to the whitsundays/back and you don’t have time to do it. I’m open minded about the vessel but hopefully something in the 30-40’ range and in fair to good condition. She would need to be in a usable condition – I’m not looking to take on a multi year project/fitout.
