This is my great Westerly 25 Yacht built in 1965 at the time when yachts were built 2/3" thick in GRP. it was originally bought by Richard Vernon the famous actor and named Bruno of Bath.Im currently in contact with Richards daughter Sarah on the isle of white and she has many slides and photos of Bruno with the family on board and also in Cherbourg. I keep Sarah up to date with the progress of Bruno as it was her fathers first boat after he was paid from starring in 007 Goldfinger in 1964, as Colonel Smithers. He was an avid sailor who competed in many races around the solent etc, and sadly died in 1997. Sarah Vernon is a famous actress/artist as well and has told me that she has fond memories of Bruno as she was 8 at the time they all used to holiday on Bruno around the isle of white.
I have the original Ships register and hand books for the boat also the outboard. She has a a full set of sails with sail cover, the standing rigging is in great shape and ready to go.Powered also with a Mercury sail drive outboard that runs sweetly, also charging the 3 batteries. 2 tanks of fuel are on board and an inbuilt water tank supplying a pump tap for the sink. A twin burner gas/grill on gimbles works fine, but is the orignial and a bit old. Heads WC up the front that is in working order and all the cushions have been recovered with blue leatherette and white piping.Being a triple bildge keel she will stand up and where and all the keel bolts are in great condition with no leaks etc.A Nasa target depth sounder is installed also a speed indicator and a plastimo compass.A cobra VHF and twin 12v sockets.12v Led lighting installed. Also a spinaker pole is there and some hank on head sails which are all in good condition. A couple of ropes could do with replacing as gone a bit stiff but generally all ok.The winches work fine and the windows dont leak as rubbers were replaced. Im currently working on her as fixing a main sheet rope carrier that had broken and a rear section of rubbing strake that had been damaged. this will be finished this week and also a new coat of paint on the hull in navy blue. I have today  been repainting the deck in anti slip grey and varnishing the tiller/rubbing strake/grab rails etc as these have been prepared. Just the new main-sheet track to fit as you can see from the rear cockpit photo and a touch up here and there. So once she is sold she can be ready to go. She is currently in Exeter Quay on the hard at £81 a month to Exeter city council and she can stay where she is. Electric/water is available also showers and rubbish collections as there are quite a few live aboards in the quay.A small solar panel keeps the batteries up when im not there and then i spend a few nights on her at the weekends.Inside is all original with fold out tables and 4 single berths. Headlining could do with re gluing up in places though, and a tidy up. Curtains are fitted and plenty of storage/draws. Also a cupboard by the inner steps that is a drinks cabinet complete with glasses etc.New Nav lights fitted. Some fenders/mooring ropes/boat hook and ladder are on the boat.
Anything i have forgotten please ask, but as to condition i would say she is in solid and good condition for her age. Westerly 25 yachts are extremley solid strong boats compared to the thin plastic overpriced rubbish you can buy today and i would not hesitate to buy another. But at this time i have bought a Hurley in Plymouth with a mooring so i sadly cant afford the two.Insurance is £62 a year at third party and will come with the remainder of the policy. The quays rent is all up to date so you can keep her where she is or lift her in by the councils crane and sail down the canal out the the river exe and beyond. So please ask any questions as Bruno is a very special yacht with fantastic history that money just cant buy and i would like to see her go to a respectable home who wants a fantastic 25 yacht with great character and beautiful lines.I am open to serious offers and i can be contacted anytime by ebay. Please dont waste my time and i wont waste yours.Lady on board not included!!!Thank you
