Here at Priced Right Keels and Wheels LLC we get a wide variety boats in for sale ... but this for sure is the rarest, most desirable, and unique boat we've had the opportunity to offer !! Take a look at this beautiful 1970 Boston Whaler Menemsha powered by a Yamaha 115hp 4 Stroke outboard and being carted around on a full aluminum single axle trailer.Mechanical:When it comes to buying the most known boat brand on the water most people look no further than a unsinkable Boston Whaler but I would be surprised by how many people have ever seen this model. The Menemsha model was only built from 1968-1972 and records show less than 300 were ever built from the factory making this the rarest Boston Whaler model in the world. This particular one has been re-powered several times over the years but it's current powerplant is a 2004 Yamaha 115 hp 4 Stroke outboard that has only 380 hrs. During inspection we confirmed this outboard has has a recent service as plugs appeared to be newer along with filters, lower unit fluid, and water pump flowed water freely. The battery would not hold a charge so we have just replaced it with a new marine battery. The engine has a Yamaha Digital Smart gauge to monitor many engine components and does read the current hours. The wiring appears to have been updated over the years and all electronic components seem to work with no issues. This vessel rides as smooth as any boat I've ever had the opportunity to Captain and gets on plane almost immediately with the current outboard setup.Cosmetic:This boat I sure has seen many transformations, upgrades, and modifications throughout the years but still in very usable condition. The upper exterior paint is showing it's age as it's cracked and flaking in many sections of the cabin structure. The lower section of the boat appears to have the original gelcoat which is in above average condition for it's age and a new coat of bottom paint was just installed last year. Many of the original hardware items are still in use on this boat to include the notable front gull wing door hinges, the hinge up windshield glass panes, seats, and decking panels. The flooring in the boat is about 90% solid with only noticing about a 1 ft area on the port side that felt a little soft. The transom appears to have been rebuilt at sometime as it is as solid as a rock. Overall it's in good usable condition but would also make a great candidate for a complete restoration project to really bring out it's former glory.Trailer:The trailer provided in this sale is a single axle aluminum trailer that was custom built for this hull. While inspecting it we found the tires, bearings, bunks, wench, and tongue jack all function with no foreseeable concerns. the lighting will need to be replaced along with the wiring as it's frayed and missing in several sections. For a additional cost we can handle this before pickup.Values are very hard to find as there aren't many on the open market for sale but here's what we derived from the few we have knowledge of ....Un-restored with older model outboards - $7,000-$9,000Un-restored with a late model outboard-  $11,000-$13,000Restored with period correct outboard- $25,000- $30,000
1970 Catalogue Description The Whaler catalogue described the Menemsha like this: "The Menemsha is built on the 16' 7" Boston Whaler hull with minor modification to permit installation of head and cabin shell. A fully lined monocoque cabin encloses two settee berths. The head is located under the fold-up section of the starboard berth. Privacy curtains close off the cabin entrance when snapped in place. A folding table is hinged to the control console. A notable feature is the large and rugged fore hatch which because of special hardware may be left open underway and is big enough to stand in, sit in, enter and exit by. The hatch and cabin may be walked upon and prominent ribs both secure footing and provide hand grip. "A massive anodized aluminum windshield carries two opening panes and may be provided with a windshield wiper. The canvas navy top erects to a clearance height of about 6' 3" and together with the side curtains and rear drop curtains makes a fully secure enclosure. "The pilot seat is cushioned and of a height permitting seated vision through the windshield. Controls are comfortable for either standing or sitting and both foot rest and foot stool are provided to permit persons of any stature to see over the windshield when desired. "A locker lined with wood is below the pilot seat, and a seat and fish locker are part of the same structure. At the port side rear is a seat covering the place for battery installation, balancing the weight of the head. All wiring and control cables go through an under-floor tunnel, as on other 16' 7" Whalers. Two 12-gallon gas tanks may be carried in a wide open space below the pilot seat structure which stands free on tubular supports. The gas hose passes aft through the starboard rail cabinet. "The special stern rail is provided for passenger protection in an emergency tilt and is a most congenial addition for casual leaning or gripping. The wast rails are provided with handsome weather cloths, and all rails are stainless. "The Menemsha give the hardnosed outdoorsman a feeling of mastery over any possible water environment which is at least partly justified. And it gives his "better half" a sense of security, protection and comfort far greater than any previous Boston Whaler.
