Make: Stephens/Plath

This is a windlass tagged Stephens Brothers in fact it was manufactured by R Plath of Oregon. This is an classic  Yacht Windlass. It is very sleek in appearance. It is made of a brass housing with tempered steel gears and a slot drive. This Windlass is approx. 55 years old and works as if it were new.The windlass as is will handle a 75lbs anchor and 200 ft. of 5/16 inch chain. This for the Sailor who wants the classic look with the dependability of a newer model. I August of this year I had the DC Motor bench tested, we ran the testing three  time and it passed all. This not the usual old piece of gear, their are parts on the shelf. The only time Plath is called is for a total restoration, other than that, the Model 6 (which this is) never break that says   a lot about the product.  One thing I must say is that the windlass is not a speeding bullet It draws up slow but with off the chart torque. Please take note the windlass will ship without fluids which are the following the windlass 90 wt. oil the slot drive a good cup grease, the DC motor a light machine oil. The Windlass and motor  with packaging will weight over 100 lbs. Shipping will be extreme.
