SwordFish.. This is the one...The Hull
Here for sale is my beloved classic Fletcher Arrow. The Hull is from 1972, and still has the plate, but the engine is a very low hours 1999, as you will see. This is the maximum recommended for the hull, and with a 21 pitch prop, she flies effortlessly! The design of the base hull is still the same as it was in 1972, and talking to Fletcher, their biggest problem is the boats never die. Swordfish is a fine example of why they are not making boats at present.I bought the boat and trailer about 3 years ago with the idea of fitting an engine, and using her as a basic boat. However, having fitted an amazing engine after the first run out, I realised the floor was not everything it should be, and that started a project I will never forget. Please see it here: http://fletcher-boats.ning.com/forum/topics/how-stong-is-a-fletcher-transomThis details the highs and lows of the rebuild, and the help from this amazing forum. Ron one of my main helpers, is a boat builder himself on the Clyde. Please see the stripped down floor above. This hull will now last forever, and the extra weight is minimal. (OK, not forever, but hopefully you get my point)Once Begun, this boat as you will see has been completely stripped and rebuilt. The stringers were replaced, and the cross members using mahogany from old window frames, then the hull was filled with bottles. The floor had marine ply (apparently this was never used in the original construction , they used builders grade). 2 layers of fibre then went on top. (This can be seen at the back of the boat.)Once the floor was out, the transom was clearly plenty strong enough, and additionally has a stainless brace plate on the outside and bracing on the inside too. Then, the ski pole was added, new gauges to measure everything from engine hours to water temp. All brand new Fabia and all work. The electrics were all replaced including new cables, battery and the Stereo rewired. A proper fuse box put under the dashboard. The teak deck at the front polishes up nicely. The Engine.
This was bought with what seems to be genuine very low hours. Its very tidy. I replaced the impeller as a matter of course, and the old one looked like it had barely run. The previous owner had removed the oil injector as is common with these engines, so it is a simple matter of mixing a little oil with each fill. Also, Boyesen reeds have apparently been added. The Reeds are valves that control the fuel intake, and are used to improve the power output of a 2 stoke. So actually imho, sometimes the engine can be quite a handful on this size boat. :) It is the maximum recommended power for the hull, The hours on the engine was about 100 when I bought it I believe, (hour meter came with it) and now stands at 153 hours, so we have enjoyed her and proved the rebuild works exceptionally well.
Also comes with nearly 4 litres container of 2 stroke marine oil. (Quicksilver)fitted with a stainless lazer Propeller worth £350 on ebay.
The Trailer.
Roller trailer, with an extending front so it will fin in my garage. It can be extended by I think 1m, with the idea that on a steep ramp, the car need not get near the water when launching. however the set up is so light compared to all my previous boats (inboard engines) that with this set up it is easy to launch anywhere... even on fairly shallow beaches.

cockpit coverSo What wrong with her? Well, she is not new, and the gel coat is showing her age. Its not bad and she looks OK, but a re coating would do her a world of good. I have patched in places, but never replaced the top gel, as frankly its not one of my skills, and I have seen too many badly painted boat. This rebuild was done as I meant to keep her, but family plans sometimes have to change and I will be very sorry to see her go. SwordFish lies in Derbyshire. so while you can see the engine running, a sea trial is more difficult. I would strongly recommend viewing before purchase obviously. If she does not sell, I will separate her into parts. clearly the sum of her parts is way in Excess of the buy it now, assuming 50% return on the new bits. I would be sad to asset stripe her though because of the work that has gone into building her.Payment by Paypal, cash, or other cleared funds is fine. A boat as fully specced as this rarely comes on the market. Viewing highly recommended. First to see will buy. Call me on 07891817863 if you have questions.
Can Deliver for 20p per mile.
And here are 3 short videos. I ran up the engine last weekend ofr the first time in 12 months. Started beautifully.
