Howell is a 40 ft steel cruiser narrowboat, originally built in 1980. She was completely refurbished in 2015 and then blackened and painted in June 2016. She is equipped with her original Lister Engine (fully serviced and reliable), and has passed her Boat Security Scheme (BSS) which is valid until 2020.
She is very bright and airy and boasts plenty of indoor space. The ceiling is 2m10 high (6 foot 8, so no hunched backs onboard!).
Howell has an open plan design and has plenty of natural light with four windows and a sky hatch in the main living space. She has a separate bathroom fitted with a shower and toilet and an easily partitioned double bed-space. Howell would be ideal for a single person or a couple ready to move in and enjoy the canal life. The main aspects of the refurbishment are as follows:
She has been re-plated, blackened and painted inside and out.
An entirely new gas and electric system has been installed, including a new boiler, automatic water pump, shower and sink.
A new alternator has been fitted to the engine.
New Leisure and starter batteries have been installed as has a solar power system.
She has double glazed windows and a roof hatch.
She is fitted with a new modern clean-burning multi-stove.Howell has been designed as an open space, with the stove at her heart nesting between the kitchen and the living room so as to make the most of the warmth. There is a raised bed-space in the bow with a charming view. It is joined to the living room so as to profit from the stove and is partitioned by a pair of linen curtains. Howell has been lovingly finished to a high standard, with details such as copper curtain rails, a hand-made egg shelf, custom made under-stove storage for wood, two custom fitted sofas, hanging lights that can be moved around according to your needs, and a larder. There is plenty of storage space beneath the bed for larger items (suitcases, tool boxes etc), and between the steps leading to the entrance. There is also a built in wardrobe and a copper clothes rail. At 40 foot long, Howell is the ideal length for a narrow boat in London. She is an easy vessel to find a mooring for and is simple to manoeuvre, she can even be turned round on narrow stretches of water. Still though she is spacious and light inside.
Howell has been my home for the past few years and I have lovingly restored her with great care. She is both modern and functional and ideally suited to contemporary river life. There is an element of adventure inherent in narrowboat life but the refurbishment has bought Howell back to her very best so your adventures can focus on the canal rather than the dry dock!I shall be very sad to see her go as I have been incredibly happy here but I hope to leave her in good hands and that her adventures on the river continue.Currently located in London, to arrange viewings, please contact Coline at 07 909 014 680 or email at c.naujalis@gmail.comI have also created a tumblr website for Howell, where pictures and full info can be found: http://howellnarrowboat.tumblr.com/Offers welcome ---Keys features• 40 ft
