" Brummie Gem ""Brummie Gem" was designed by Eivind Amble (Norway) as an Admiral Cup racing boat in the late 1970's.Made in Birmingham from cold moulded mahogany by one man, she was finally launched in 1984 and has been part of our family for over 30 years, delivering many memorable holidays in safety and comfort.Over the years she has had many upgrades and a refit of her interior for cruising. In 2015 she was transported back home to Birmingham for some repair work, hull painting and general maintenance. However, we have decided that a smaller boat would be more suitable for us in the future. We would like to sell her this winter and can offer assistance in putting her back together, ready for next years sailing season. The main work to be done:The tread-master has lifted and been removed in places. It will need 'patching in' or replacing altogetherThe wooden rails, trim and coach roof need epoxy/varnishingNeeds a new fridgeEngine was fully functioning when taken off the water but will need recommissioningElectrics to engine would benefit from replacingGas heating installation needs completingGeneral tidy up and other smaller jobsThe rigging was replaced 3 years ago and all the sails are in good condition. The painting of the hull has almost been finished, leaving the transom and stem in the original mahogany (epoxied) planking.Dimensions (approx)LOA: 42'Beam: 13'Draft: 7'Displacement: Headroom max: 6'ConstructionCold moulded mahogany with mahogany plankingLead keel with twelve 1" diameter keel bolts Aluminium frame bulk head giving open plan living accommodationKeel stepped mastEfficient rudder bearings giving lightweight steering for the large 5 foot rudderAccommodationAft double berths x2Foreword double berth x1Saloon single berths x2Single berth opposite galleyTotal of 9 berthsSailsGenoaCutter JibMainsailSpinnakerStorm jibRiggingAll standing rigging and most running rigging replaced 3 years agoLazy jacks and boom bagFurling gear for genoa (functional but would benefit from an upgrade)Furling gear for cutter jib (very good condition)Spinnaker polesEngineNavigation and Electronic EquipmentGPSVHFWind speed, direction and logEPIRBSafety EquipmentEmergency tillerLife-raft (approx 18 years old, needs a new box/servicing or a new raft)Life rings and dan bouyLife jacketsEmergency antennaeTanksWater tank - stainless steelDiesel tankElectrics2 house batteries1 engine battery ChargerOtherAutohelmTwo Avon dinghies and one outboardAnchor and electric windlassSprayhoodFolding prop and spareHydraulic kicker, baby stay and back-stayOther odds and ends Comments
