RE-LOCATION FORCES SALEBoat: Classic Racing Dragon. Manufacturer/Year : Cowes Boatyard, 1961. Identification: GBR 359 (WHIRLWIND ) Description. Whirlwind is a classic Cowes Boatyard Dragon constructed in 1961 of mahogany on steamed oak frames. Whirlwind is totally original, and she has her original mast, made from one complete piece of wood. She has her original valid measurement certificate. Whirlwind has had a racing live in her early, but since that time has led a very relaxed life cruising and some local classic yacht racing in Scotland up until 1979, where she was last recorded in 1979. By chance in 2013 we discovered Whirlwind parked in a transport yard in the Midlands and re-homed her.Whirlwind is the epitome of a classic, and has all original fittings including her original hand made sails.**Please Note: Whirlwind has the blue deck in the pictures (classic linen blue racing deck). The pictures show three masts in total but for clarification the mast that belongs to Whirlwind is the original wooden one shown in the pictures. WorkWe have stripped the varnish from her hull as can be seen in the photographs. She is part restored but a valuable legacy as since the Cowes Boatyard burnt down, many original Cowes Classics have been lost.
