Description of the Khatsalano from Feathercraft:"Pronounced ‘kat-sa-la-no, from the native Coast Salish Squamish name, meaning “Lord of the Lake”A traditional skin kayak concept with the unique Feathercraft features of portability. The signature low profile and graceful lines of this craft capture the imagination. The Khatsalano series can be used for multi-week expeditions. The paddler needs to choose gear carefully and pack efficiently, using smaller dry-bags. When paddling the kayak without gear, use inflated float bags to ensure sufficient flotation. The Khatsalano has a fast cruising speed, tracks well and carves turns easily with a lean. With the snug fitting cockpit, you become one with your kayak. The Khatsalano is for the experienced paddler who has good rolling and bracing skills. The Khatsalano skin has small diameter sponsons which you can choose how much to inflate. When the sponsons are fully inflated, they round the chines slightly and give the kayak good stability for its beam. When sponsons are not inflated, the paddler experiences “on the edge” Greenland-style kayaking performance."Canadian-made, the Feathercraft Khatsalano kayak consists of an aluminium and HDPE collapsible frame which is slipped inside a nylon/hypalon hull and tensioned. The kayak can be used without the inflatable side sponsons, but they provide buoyancy and help to tension the sides of the hull. The kayak has a fibreglass coaming and comes with a spray skirt. When packed into its carrying bag, the complete kayak is portable and can be checked in as luggage on a commercial aircraft. It's the ultimate in portability for the kayaking enthusiast. As seen here - http://nykayak.3dcartstores.com/Feathercraft-Khatsalano_p_52.html the Feathercraft Khatsalano retails new for around US$5500.00Specifications from Feathercraft:Length x Beam - 5.43 m x 56 cmPayload - 136 kgPack Size - 92 x 60 x 30 cmWeight - 20.5 kgCockpit Size - 70 x 41 cmHatch Sizes:Small bow - 20 x 11cmMedium stern - 33 x 20cm See assembly instructions for more info - http://s127909.gridserver.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/khatsalano_en.pdfSee this blog post for impressions of the kayak - https://alexchavanne.wordpress.com/2014/03/05/first-impressions-feathercraft-khatsalano/The kayak is in good condition. I purchased it second hand a couple of years ago and have never assembled it, let alone used it, so I need it gone.Aside from the kayak components of frame, hull, seat and sponsons, this one comes with the carry bag and with a rudder kit. The rudder kit has no mount, but these can be fabbed yourself or made up using commercial components. I did not receive a sea sock, so no sea sock is included. The hypalon hull has several patches but no holes. The blue nylon deck is in good condition but a section appears to have been painted brown. No postage or freight for this item, pick up only. Serious bidders may arrange to check it out before the auction ends.More images to follow.
