Ocarina This little cruiser has proved itself over and over. It’s most spectacular achievement is sailing from Genoa (Italy) to Darwin (Australia) in the 1980s.Built in the 1950s in Hong Kong by quality English shipwrights it is teak throughout. The timber is in excellent condition. The laid decks are teak, the clinker hull is teak, the full length keel, with lead ballast, is teak. I have replaced a section of decking (last year) which showed the profile - 12mm ply with 10mm teak planks. All the timber work is in beautiful condition. It looks as though it was built yesterday. It has brass/bronze everywhere, real heavy brass: the port holes, air vents, turnbuckles (on the stainless steel rigging), and the lovely single burner cooker on gimbal with brass kettle. There’s even a bronze fire extinguisher and sink tap.I bought it three years ago  when the timber was stripped bare. So we’ve seen it warts and all. There are no warts. We painted it and sailed it for about 18months. But sadly, now I have to sell it, along with a few other wooden boats, as I’m moving my life to Italy, only taking my 16’ rowing skiff.Ocarina is 20 feet long. Weighs probably over 2 tons, given its impact on the launching trailer. There is some damage to the rudder which I will fix if I have time. An outboard bracket on the stern replaces the original inboard motor as there wasn’t room for an inboard after a cockpit was built by the previous owner (and completed by us). Originally the craft had a flush after deck with leg hole only. It’s more comfortable now with a smart cockpit. It is small but two people can have lots of fun on it. Some of the fitout is incomplete. The bunks are there but not everything is screwed down. The companion way hatch cover needs completion. There is a good little galley. There are twin wooden fresh water tanks but I think one of them is leaking. We simply didn’t use them.In summary this is a quality boat that needs a little work before it is re-launched. It is sitting on an unregistered  tandem axle trailer which we used for launching. That could be included in the sale for an extra consideration. As it is a substantial boat it is best left on a mooring. The spars are beautifully made and varnished, with original leatherwork and copper in very good condition. It is a gaff-rigger with bow sprit and cutter double headsails. It has anchor and navigation lights. It will need to be moved by truck. The boat is on trailer situated in Iluka, mouth of the Clarence River. N.S.W.
