1978 J Boats
Estimated price for orientation: 3 000 $
Category: Sailboats 2027 feet
Class:
Description Condition: Used Year: 1978 Make: J Boats
This is a great older, race ready J/24. It has raced continually for the past 5 years in a very competitive fleet (Fleet #1). Before that it was a pleasure cruse boat with everything run to cockpit and a head etc. (all gone now) Comes with 2 genoas and a Jib and a main and two spinnakers. I have additional sails that can be decided upon (sold separately) if there is an in person pick up. Comes with all the necessary running rigging: Cunningham, Vang, Jib/Genoa sheet, Main sheet, twings, and dyneema core spin sheets. Standing rigging is good: Newer forestay, good dyneema core halyards, spin pole. The boat has a bit of a "patina" which gives it character. "The Situation" was painted by a local sign painter. We have had so much fun racing it. It has many dings and filled deck holes etc. but the deck is solid and there is no vermiculite in the keel. The trailer is top very heavily built and may be worth much of what I am asking for the boat. It has new tires, wheels and wheel bearings in 2015 ($600). In its current condition it has made a 400 mile trip to a regatta. The boat has been an introduction to racing for me and my team and makes a great inexpensive way into the sport. This is just about everything you need to get started. The J/24 is THE BEST platform to start racing bigger boats. There are thousands of them so gear and competition are readily available. The boat is on the light end of the spectrum for J/24s which is good. I am open to questions and offers.
