This classic timber ski boat, "The Bat Boat", was built by master craftsman Ken Amy in 1965 from plans obtained from the USA. The plans are from the famous company Glen-L and the model boat is the 'Tuffy' !! Please view Google Images for the many wonderful photos of the Glen-L Tuffy model in all their glory. This boat for sale was in fact one of the original ski boats on the Port Hacking River. In those days very few people owned popwerboats.Although currently painted, the boat could easily be taken back to a timber and varnish finish. A young local Shipwright I know has made some quality repairs to the deck and I await him to paint the top of the Batboat a retro duck egg green. However I am keen to sell the boat as it is now, as the Shipwright is flat out doing work for his employer. The boat sits on a new brand new trailer, which cost $3,000. Trailer has been in water 3 times!!The outboard motor is a 120 hp Johnson, which is in immaculate condition, with many years of trouble free boating left in it.Again, although the deck needs a little TLC, the boat can be used immediately!Since I have had it up for sale, other owners of the same boat have been calling me. They all parade them in classic timber powerboat displays with the various Powerboat Association's. They always race prior to the start of the Bridge to Bridge Ski Race each year.Another use the Batboat can be used for, is complementing a 1960's or 1970's muscle car, ute, truck or Kombie. Tow it behind to really set off your classic car at the next club meetings!!All in all, I really want this boat to go to a good home. It was built by my brother in law and I have owned it since 1980. Had some great fun in it, but time to let it go to someone younger. Please feel free to call me anytime to discuss, Warren of Caringbah on 0418 298 830 (anytime!)
