100% GENUINE REASON for sale!Ex retired longliner BIG volume steel cruiser which has been my full time liveaboard project for over the past 3 years @ great expense. (all photos are around a year old or so, some parts completed now)
Due to unforeseen opportunities popping up I have to abandon our dream boat to start work on our houseboat which suits our needs better, it saddens us greatly as she has looked after us so well over the time we have owned her, the worry of having two boats is just to much and she must sell!
Arna Lee is powered by a 903 Cummins turbo diesel that starts first time every time and has very little hours since major overhaul some years back (with receipts) video here https://youtu.be/_zuYpJhKKXw new starter solenoid, new starter batteries 24v starting system x 4 giving plenty of current to the starter, also in sale comes full drum of oil and new filters for oil change, only problem in engine room is exhaust manifolds need pinholes welded or replaced, besides that there is a full stainless steel exhaust from end of manifolds to stern. She will cruise at around 5-6 knots on a virtual idle and is very fuel efficient at this speed.Ground tackle, Arna has around 100mtrs of heavy duty gal chain down in the anchor locker connected to a 115lb Manson anchor with stainless swivel fittings and never drags even in the roughest conditions, winch is a Muir Atlantic 24V unit in excellent working order with new solinoid and rocker switch with spare solinoid and hand crank, the custom made steel bow sprit has never been used as she anchors from her starboard bow through a scupper, she also comes with a very large 120 lb sand plow anchor but the pivot is seized also there is another large gal sand plow that is perfect that comes with sale.
Arna lee carries some 2500 ltrs of diesel in her forward and aft tanks, easy over 1000ltrs aboard at present that goes with sale, forward tanks are in excellent shape aft tanks may have rust in them and it was my plan to remove them and have the remaining fuel treated and put back into the forward tanks. She weighs in around 35- 40 ton @ 56ft in length overall and is constructed out of 7mm plate steel, draft of around 1.5m, she has stabilizers attached to the hull around 6m long 500mm wide so if she happens to run aground she will not go over, she was hauled out and put up on the hard stand and the hull was COMPLETELY sand blasted back to bare metal up to the water line, I found 2 pin holes through the hull that were not leaking until it was sandblasted these were cut out 300mm square and plated from both inside and out. The entire hull was then hit with jotaetch 2K etch primer, sigma Vikoat chlorinated rubber barrier/ sealer, Jotun seagardian, the whole Jotan marine paint system used.Helm : Raymarine radar with 2.5 kilowatt radome plus spare radome for parts, all wiring harnesses for radar, fishfinder but missing wiring/ parts for autohelm (not fitted yet) UHF radio, VHF radio with antennas to suit, DVD player, hydraulic steering needs top up/ bleed as been sitting for some time but comes good pressure after 40 odd minutes use.All 'slider' windows are proper toughened glass marine windows in perfect order, except for aft cabin are acrylic.
She is now ready to be hauled out again, at last check with camera 6 months ago the sacrificial anodes looked okay but she definitely needs hull pressure blasted and existing antifoul 'keyed in' and a few coats of Jotun seagardian and she’s good to go again for years.Rust : anyone that knows steal boats know they have rust, they ALL do, this one is no different, I chose a steel vessel because they are simple and cheap to repair, some parts of the sponsons need to be cut off and replaced, salt water has got in them and rusted them from the inside out, one spot starboard aft it has gone through hull about 200mm long but obviously above waterline, a simple fix, they are 150mm pipe cut length ways, I was just going to blast them off with a plasma cutter and replace them with timber as its easier.Rust in holding tanks : there are two below decks holding tanks/ freezer rooms, one is stripped out the other not, the one that was stripped out had rust inside so was soaked in molasses for 2 months mixed with fresh water, this completely stripped all rust from every nook and cranny where other rust removal techniques would NEVER reach, it left a perfect clean bare metal finish, because I was in a rush and did not prep surface properly it is now mild surface rust and should probably be done again. Her interior is where most time and expense has been put in around 95% complete in stained radiata pine, teak, finished in high gloss glass finish polymer resin, solid Tasmanian oak bench tops in galley. All other bench tops are solid hardwood construction finished also in high gloss glass finish polymer resin.Sale comes with oil, filters, paint, some tools, building materials etc, some fittings and fixtures will stay with the boat such as big screen TV, xbox 360, Bluray player and 3D surround sound, all quality LED lighting all wired to dimmer switches to save drain on house batteries.
What needs doing? she has a full size shower but needs finishing, about 2 sq m of tiling (got tiles) is plumbed into wall (have taps and shower head) sale comes with a solar hot water unit BRAND NEW never installed that works by evacuated glass tubes, holding tank I think is around 50ltrs.Marine toilet works well and just needs water in skin fitting cleared of growth, around 1.5m of the helm needs finishing. All decks are solid timber/ hardwood Murbeau, decks were sandblasted and stripped and timber was affixed using decfix sika adhesive then caulked with black sika caulking. very little work to finish decks as they are 95% complete.Forward cabin is very roomy and needs refit as have not started.Engine, the 903 needs manifolds sealed as there are pin holes in them, I did source some from NSW for $200 but the sale fell throughAft cabin needs finishing, the starboard side wall, all quality brass down lights as well as single LED glbes that are used for driving lights for cars installed, also surround sound speakers installed flush with ceiling, other DVD case needs building, most materials with sale to finish it.500kg davit on aft deck needs putting back together, all parts there, winch may need some attention but has new dacron not gal steel cable that will rust.Boat has generator power, generator will go with the sale, gen is a Honda 4KVA with very low hours, it is not an inverter type, all it needs is a fuel tap and a service and it is good to go and will never let you down, just a bit thirsty but good for backup.
Sponsons on both starboard and port sides need replacing as they have rusted from the inside out, other rusted areas in hull well above the waterlineFreezer rooms/ holding tanks both need de scaling for rust which is not a big job its as easy as pouring 20ltrs of Molasses down there and adding fresh water to dilute, leave for 2 months then drain then flush with clean water, all rust will be eliminated, etch prime then paint.Sink in galley needs plumbing up, good quality pump and hose is there hooked to a 1000ltr polly tank below deck in the engine room.Flush mounted smoked glass lid gas cook top is brand new @ $500 and has never been used, have some of the fittings to hook it all up.I have tried to describe condition of boat to the best of my ability but I am sure I will add more info as the auction runs, if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me via ebay messaging I will get back to you promptly.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This boat WILL sell, grab a bargain, NO rent, NO rip off council rates, NO water bills, NO electricity bill, NO mortgage, the way I see it is this boat owes me NOTHING even after investing a good 40k into it, taking into consideration the money I have saved from all the above hence the cheap price, also as it is an unfinished project boat the price reflects this, I consider the reserve to be very cheap for a large volume steel cruiser.
This auction is STRICTLY a bid to buy auction, not a bid to look then have a think about it and get back to me as it is a HUGE hassle to have to ferry people back and forth out to boat as it is on a swinging anchorage some distance from me.
SOLD AS IS WHERE IS, Advertised elsewhere, payment and pick up only within 7 days of the AUCTION ENDING, cash sale.Thank youUPDATE: I shall be adding up to the day photos of vessel within the next few days as well as info I feel is important, existing photos are pretty much as she sits now.- Engine is keel cooled- Included in sale is 2x fully welded polished stainless handrails around 8m in length for walk around decks, walk around deck on starboard side 98% complete, port side yet to be done.-
