- no title specifiedSUNSTAR 18 SAILING YACHT (18ft)TWIN AXLE TRAILERMERCURY 7.5HP OUTBOARD(Twin Cylinder 2 stroke Long Shaft)
This is an excellent example of a classic (and now fairly rare) 1970’s sailing yacht.Designed by Arthur C Howard, designer of very popular Leisure 17, the family resemblance is very evident. Indeed, much of the rigging is the same so parts are freely available. The windows were all replaced around 5 years ago and a new stern cockpit window was added 3 years ago and the whole interior was lined (vinyl and carpet). These boats were never lined from new! This makes the interior much more cosy.New foam and vinyl coverings to rear berths/seats – unused.EQUIPMENTNASA depth sounder, NASA log, Interior light, Navigation lights, Anchor with chain.Hull SpecificationsLOA (length overall) 18’3” 5.57mLWL (Length waterline) 16’3” 4.95mBeam 7’2” 2.2mDraft (Twin Bilge) 2’4” 0.72mDisplacement 1600lbs 722KgHeadroom (max) 4’10” 1m47cmSAILSDimensions are approximate in feet. (Luff, Foot, Leech)Re-cut mainsail, Good condition (20’, 7’, 21’2) cut similar to original to fit.4 headsails (20’6”, 10’4”, 21’5”), (20’1”, 10’2”, 19’0”), (19’10”, 8’9”, 19’0”), (15’3”, 7’6”, 13’4”). All OK.TRAILERThe trailer (made by Peak) is a twin axle, with braking on all 4 wheels and is obviously designed for a much larger boat, (probably 23-24ft). Tyres are all good, one new a few months ago.OUTBOARDMercury 7.5HP twin cylinder 2 stroke, long shaft. The long shaft ensures that the propeller stays deep in the water. Being a twin cylinder this is a very smooth running motor and provides ample power for this boat (4-5HP is sufficient). The motor has 12V o/p for battery charging. Also included is a remote fuel tank with new pipework and priming bulb.Link to more picturesAny questions welcome.Viewing welcome, please contact me for details.
