This is a mono-hull 14ft Dinghy sailboat. Designed by Ron Holder in the mid 1970s the basic design was in production till the late 1990s. This boat features a centerboard, kickup rudder and the comp-tip mast. The comp tip is designed to make the boat more resistant to lightening strikes, the top couple of feet are made of fiberglass rather than metal. All lines and sails are in good condition. Power plant consists of a Newport Vessels Electric motor rated for salt water use and producing 62 lb of thrust. Motor has integrated battery monitoring as does the battery box. All elements of the power plant were purchased new at the beginning of the 2016 season. (I got tired of paddling out of the ramp and so did those behind me.) It will come with a charger purchased at the same time and designed to be used with a AGM battery. Battery is a Duracell deep cycle with 92 amp hours and has 18 months plus warranty left. Warranty is through Batteries Plus locations nationwide. Some lines were replaced last year. Will come with Sea Lion trailer. Trailer is in good condition with a new jack. (I also got tired of lifting up the hitch to sit it on a cinder block on the hard.) Trailer does need to either have lighting replaced or repaired, will light but lens are cracked and the plug has warped a bit with age. Tires have tread but have a slow leak, generally needs to be pumped up every 6 to 8 weeks. If I were keeping the boat would I would replace them. Boat balances and tracks well is stable, a great boat to learn it is very forgiving. If you are good enough she will get up on plane with sufficient wind. Only did that once with this particular boat but my prior 14 its much older sister a 1977 did it easily I assume with practice this one will do it too. I bought her at the end of 2015 after selling my 30 footer but my wife has no interest in sailing at this point and its no fun alone. So its back to the kayak for me. I will be glad to assist with transport up to 150 miles round trip if tolls and gas are covered! For distances great than that please contact me in advance of bidding to determine feasibility and costs. Will gladly answer any questions. |
