Description
This boat has been built and fitted out with no expense spared, by Galleon Narrowboats ( me), with picture documentation from the hull construction onwards . We fitted this boat as our own live aboard boat but now that the children have flown the nest we have decided to sell.
We are currently updating the boat, meaning that the new owner could have an input in to certain aspects of fitting, eg dinette; additional cupboards etc. However, this work is currently ongoing, and input would depend on how close to completion the fitting is.
At this point of advertising, the boat is 100% usable, liveable, and ready to move on to.
Beginning at the stern ( the blunt end)... The semi traditional stern houses the Beta Marine 43 engine with hydraulic gearbox which has been meticulously maintained from new installation. It has twin alternators; a 180 amp domestic, and 70 amp starter. We fitted a top of the range instrument panel, a hospital silencer and extensive sound proofing; if you stand at the front of the boat when the engine is running, you cannot hear it...now that is quiet !!! The engine also has a 3.5 KW built in generator, allowing the washing machine , microwave oven or any 240 volt item to be used when the engine is running, without the need for 240 hook up.The battery bank is cared for by a 50 amp 4 stage sterling electronic battery charger. We also fitted a 1500 w pure sine wave inverter, which that supplies 240 volts (up to 1500 watts) when not cruising. The rear deck has 2 large storage lockers which double as a seating area, and is covered by a good quality fold down fabric pram hood design cover.
Entering down the removable ladder style steps from the back deck, you enter the utility area which houses the full load size Bosh washing machine, which, as I mentioned previously, can be run either from 240 land line, or from the engine generator when cruising. There is also a full height cupboard in this area.
Walking through the side set door, you enter the bedroom. The double bed is a brand new instillation and comes with a brand new mattress. Large open storage beneath. The room continues in to a dressing area, where there is a full height wardrobe, and a newly fitted table / dressing table. The upright calorifier is housed in the corner of the room beneath shelving. This bedroom / dressing room has large , opening double glazed porthole windows,
Continue forwards through the offset door to a small corridor outside the bathroom. This bathroom has both a bath (4ft) and a shower above it, corner porcelain vanity sink with cupboard below, wall cupboard, and brand new thetford electric flush cassette toilet.
Enter next the living area. A large area which at the time of writing this advert, has a multi fuel burner and one cupboard. The room in otherwise a clear canvas either for a dinette to be built , or free standing furniture can be used. This room has an open aspect to the galley. We found this worked well as a layout option, as the person doing the cooking was not shut away from the rest of the family.
The galley itself is very well equipped..It has a recently installed Belling double oven with auto ignite function. The 12 volt full sized fridge is also relatively new. There is a 4 burner hob, and double stainless steel sink with full size drainer and a mixer tap. A brand new microwave oven has been installed. There is a very large amount of cupboard space in this galley. There is also a slim line cupboard unit directly beneath the side door. This unit also has space to house a bin ( something often overlooked but essential). This living / galley area has a side door on both sides, which we commissioned to be of a larger than standard size when the shell was built.
Forward through another door into the front room. This room is currently a totally blank canvas, leaving it possible to be a bedroom, office, study, or whatever suits your needs.
Central double steel doors open from this room to the front deck which we commissioned to be slightly longer than standard when built. It has large lockers all round, and has a cratch cover with roll down privacy covers. Beneath the front deck is a 200 gallon custom made stainless steel water tank. Again, this was installed at our request at the fabrication stage to be larger than normal.
The top quality Reeves shell is 69 ft long.A bow thruster tube was included in the build, but we chose not to have one installed, although obviously one could be retro fitted. We installed high quality marine double glazed windows, which greatly reduce condensation, block external noise, and help to conserve warmth in colder times, as does the spray foam insulation.
The boat is heated by both a multi fuel burner located centrally in the layout as previously mentioned, and also Wabesco diesel central heating with a 7 day programmable timer. This heats radiators throughout the boat, and the large, relatively new, previously mentioned calorifier. Water can also be heated by the 1 KW immersion , or from heat generated by the engine when running. This boat is fitted with a galvanic isolator.
A hull survey was carried out in August 2016, and passed with flying colours(the survey will be re issued in the name of the new owner) we also blacked the boat using primacon primer before applying 3 coats of blacking. 6 new anodes were fitted at this time, making 8 in total. A new boat safety certificate was also issued at this time.
The boat was recently repainted and has nice coach lines. It is currently not sign written, giving the new owner the opportunity to rename it. Sign writing is included in the price. Also included in the price would be 4 new domestic batteries, full engine service and some carpentry such as a bed, 2 cupboards and a dinette.but we can have a chat about anything else that you require, Dinette cushions are not included in the price.
The boat is offered on a very desirable mooring and the rent is to be paid annually, (not included), in the village of Nether Heyford, Northamptonshire, on the Grand Union Canal. This is in the middle of an 11 mile lock free pound, with easy access to pubs and restaurants. This location is a short drive to junction 16 of the M1, 10 min drive to Daventry, or 20 min drive to Northampton, which has a main line railway station. It is also a 10 min walk in to the village of Nether Heyford which has a butcher, hairdresser, post office, general store, and 2 pubs. The mooring itself offers a water point, electric hook up, rubbish disposal and elsan. This particular mooring has a large lawn area and parking area. The mooring is potentially available for a liveaboard, subject to the discretion of the landlord. We have rented this mooring for about 13 years, and have found the site to be relaxed, and its moorers to be considerate and friendly. We have the mooring adjacent to this boat, so we will be neighbours. The mooring is only available with this boat, This is a good mobile phone signal area , and also 4g mobile internet.
The only downside of this mooring is its close proximity to the train track. This soon becomes unnoticeable.
We are willing to consider taking a narrow boat or motorhome in Part Exchange on this boat, We are not duty bound to do so, and it is entirely at our discretion. This is a private sale ...Pete 07774433414 I am just in the progress of uploading another 30 or so boat build pictures to my web site http://www.galleonnarrowboats.co.uk and at If you are new to boating, we are happy to give all the help you require, as we would be neighbours. ps. you pay at the pub.I am willing to deliver this boat anywhere on the inland water system for a reasonable fee /www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq9sLEmo6WM&t=5s&spfreload=10
