Inventory # 10009 Location: Chattanooga, TN General Description: This 1971 42' Grand Banks 42 Aft Cabin Trawler partially submerged for undetermined cause. Wood hull in fair condition for age. The water rose approximately 2' above the salon sole. it was 4’ above the forward and aft cabin. Vessel exterior above the waterline appears in average condition, there was no apparent damage. Windows are all intact and teak decks look good for the age. Wood damage on starboard side hull at stern just ahead of transom appears to be prior to accident. Damages to teak trim on port side gunwale caused during recovery. Interior liners are still in boat, therefore extensive hull investigation was not possible. Bottom not inspected as boat is in water. Hull is dry in aft. While on vessel, no increase of water in bilge was noted. It is not clear if the hull bottom needs work because the vessel is in the water so could not inspect. AC and DC panels were submerged, power was not supplied to them for safety. Not all equipment could be tested because there was no power to vessel at time of inspection. Other: AC/Heat: Cruisair, submerged, appears in fair condition, not tested. Exterior teak in fair condition, needs cleaning and some minor repair. Gunwale in fair condition, minor damage amidship appears to have occurred during recovery. Lower driving station in salon, gauges and controls appear in fair condition for age. There is a compartment next to helm with papers in it that are still dry and gauges and controls did not appear submerged but not tested. Flybridge: Upper helm gauges and controls in fair condition for age, not tested. Some lids missing from some seats. Flybridge in average condition for age, not damage sighted. Some flybridge cushions missing. Rubrail in fair condition, some deck rash but overall serviceable, Swim ladder in fair condition, stainless steel/teak in serviceable condition. Swim platform, teak, in fair condition for age for age. Washdown: fresh water, Pump appears to have been recently replaced , not tested Water heater, Raritan, in fair condition, 12 gal. located in engine room, uses engine coolant and 120 volt. Windshield, main cabin, in good condition for age Other windows in fair condition for age. Florida 6% state sales tax will apply for Florida residents. Transmission: Velvet Drive transmissions submerged, reported preserved. Transmissions showed little corrosion, appear in fair physical condition. Unable to test transmissions, condition unknown.
Generator / Battery: Onan 5MDKAU-1477 Generator. Batteries: 2 4D, 1 27, all batteries submerged, not tested. ProMariner C-Charger.
Electronics: No electronics on Flybridge. Lower helm with Furuno GPS, West Marine VHF, JVC Stereo, Sirius Receiver. The electronics had no power, therefore, were not inspected or tested, condition unknown. They appear to have been above the high-water mark.
Galley: Galley with sink, storage, Grand Banks (no data plate) refrigerator/freezer, Princess 3 burner electric stove/oven combo, no applieances tested. Salon with galley, dinette and two staterooms. All salon cushions are in place, need cleaning as they are stained. Upholstery in fair condition, stained and worn, appears original. Headliner in fair condition, serviceable, some tears. Salon has hard board headliner, forward and aft cabin have traditional headliners. Headliner has a several tears in the aft cabin. Flooring teak/parquet, in poor condition, some flooring missing due to submersion. Salon teak floor is missing in sections. AC and DC panels were submerged in fresh water. Cabinet doors are intact, interior hatches are in the vessel.
Ground Tackle: Seawolf Windlass in fair condition did not appear submerged but not tested. Controls for windlass at helm.
Canvas, Mast Rigging, Sails: Bimini frame in fair condition for age. Canvas/Isinglass worn and in poor condition. Some panels are on lower deck in the weather. Window covers in poor condition.
Head: Day shower forward, aft cabin has custom tile small tub/shower. Forward head is electric, aft head is VacuFlush. Tank for VacuFlush in under cockpit sole with access via hatch. Shipping: Item sold "where is". The winning bidder ("buyer") is allowed an inspection period to verify that the item substantially complies with the published description.
