57ft Hixon Boats Narrow Boat
Estimated price for orientation: 45 750 $
Category: Narrowboats or Canalboats
Class:
Description Country/Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom
"Starry Night" is a 57" Narrow Boat which was built by Hixon Boats in 2004. It is an excellent boat, strongly constructed and fitted out in an understated manner with excellent materials and finish and which has been carefully maintained by ourselves and the original meticulous owner.
The boat is perfectly suitable to short or extended cruising or even as a live-aboard.
Being a Semi Trad it has a stern sheltered deck which leads to the galley/dining area with a fitted gas cooker, stainless steel sink and drainer, 3 way fridge, and under-counter fitted cupboard space. The dining area doubles as an extra double bed area.
This leads to a walk through bathroom with a shower cubicle, macerator toilet with pump out facility, sink and over shower light and extractor fan.
From the bathroom to the bedroom with a fitted double bed and cupboard storage. This leads to the saloon area which has two storage cupboards and is fitted presently with two single lounge chairs and a small table/storage area. This could easily be fitted with a sofa bed if required.
This leads to a small bow deck which could utilise a small table and chairs. It is covered by a cratch cover which is removable.
The whole of the inside are has a roof height that is suitable for me at 6'4" which is a very important consideration for taller people.
The rear deck is covered by a removable tonneau cover.
The engine is a 4 Cylinder Diesel Vetus 415 33hp with low hours for its age and has been well serviced. The gearbox is a Technodrive which works faultlessly and has been similarly well serviced.
The boat has Webasto central heating fitted and a calorifier for additional hot water.
There are 5 batteries , 1 starting battery and 4 leisure batteries. These were renewed in late 2015. The boat is fitted with 12/240v electrics and a Sterling inverter/charger.
Water tank capacity is 500 litres; diesel skin tank capacity is 240 litres; pump out tank capacity is 300 litres. The cooker is fuelled by 2x gas cylinders in the forward gas locker.
"Starry Night" is an extremely well put together boat with the quality and simplicity of fittings to make maintaining and using the boat an easy and enjoyable experience. Everything works as it should and the engine starts and runs effortlessly. The boat sails very well and as the hull was epoxy coated top and bottom from new, has stood up to things very well. Everything from the Oak flooring, to the hand-made quality curtains to the windows are excellent quality and require no additional maintenance.
We bought the boat as easily the best boat we had seen and was exactly what we wanted. Just looking at the engine and bilge area and the very clean, dry interior appealed to us and we are only wishing to sell due to family commitments limiting our boating time significantly for the next year or two.
The boat is presently moored on a residential mooring at "The Kelpies" marina of the Forth and Clyde canal. The mooring is well priced and includes the licence for all the facilities on the Forth and Clyde/Union Canal network run by Scottish canals. New owners can enquire as to transferring of the mooring or alternatives on these canals. There are local facilities for craning the boat if you need to move it elsewhere.
The boat will be sold with all fixtures and fittings including towels, Sheffield stainless steel cutlery, crockery, pans, vacuum, lifejackets, small array of tools and maintenance/cleaning products. There is even a good level of diesel in the tank! All that is needed is you and some spare clothes... Feel free to contact us and find out more... Obviously any scammers will be ignored...;)
