Make: Hallett

NO RESERVE1968 Hallett 19' Jet-Drive, shallow V ski boat. 455ci with dual quad carbs. Good condition. A California treasure.Has all the correct period equipment, Edelbrock carbs, Offenhauser  intake, Hardin valve covers, Glenwood wet exhaust, Nicson drive cover, Berkeley Jet. After buying the boat (it came out of covered storage) I removed the plugs and lubricated the cylinders. Turned it over by hand with a long ratchet and socket. Then put a new battery in it and turned it over with the starter until oil pressure came up. Put plugs back in, put fuel to it and it fired right up and ran strong and clean. I can send a video of it running if you ask. The old school oil pressure gauge is leaking so I did not run it long. Tach and volts did not seem to work but there are some loose wires under the dash so some sorting is needed to ensure it is ready for the water. Never warmed it up enough to check the temp gauge. The upholstery is faded and cracked but usable. The fiberglass hull appears in great condition. Floors are in great condition. Controls move freely. It, of course, has a reverse but also an adjustable jet nozzle to trim the boat. I never saw one before on a jet. Never saw a 455ci with dual quads either. Rare intake. You can see the cast aluminum trim control box with detent settings for up and down trim next to the drivers seat and the second cable on the jet to tilt the nozzle. You can see it has a ski tow rope bar but I can not figure out how it mounts to the back of the engine. It will stick out through that small square hole behind the engine. The tandem trailer seems high-end and the tires look fine. It towed beautifully. Buddy Bearings, Flat 4 plug, most lights work, no brakes installed. Have the title for both the boat and trailer. Boat has current registration through 2019 and the trailer has a permanent plate, so also current.Rare chance to own a piece of Southern California ski boat culture. Hallett, Kona, and Tahiti jets ruled the day around here!I bought this from a friend who could not store it any longer and it had to be moved soon. He had rebuilt the motor, ran it, tuned it, and put it in covered storage for 6 years. Fuel tanks were drained and it was turned over twice a year.  This is second hand knowledge. This seems valid though as he is very trustworthy and smart mechanic and I could see shine inside the cylinders when I removed the plugs and like-new under the valve cover, and can see new gaskets everywhere.  The engine started easy and runs good, sounds great. The boat is sold as-is for this kind of money. The engine, or even the trailer is worth more than the opening bid so please no complaints or regrets. As your wife first. I will let the buyers set the price. This should be a $3K-$6K boat. If you are looking at this listing, and read down this far, you KNOW what this boat is. Make sure this is the vintage jet boat you have been waiting for. Can store it here on the property for awhile until you come and tow it.
