Jaguar 25 History The Jaguar 25 was designed in the early 1970s by Frank Butler of Catalina Yachts, USA. As such, in America , she was the Catalina25, evolving into the Catalina 250, & remaining in production there until the early ‘90s. In terms of numbers built, inclusive of those built by other manufacturers under licence, the 25 is one of, if not the, most successful boat of her class. She was the third of a line of three Catalina boats built under licence by Eric Birch in Canvey Island, under the banner of Jaguar Yachts and were produced from the mid 70s to the mid 80s. It is believed that 940 were built. Description Kittiwake was built in 1980 and was bought by my son and I in November 2011.  It is equipped with the following: twin keels, 9.8 hp Tohatsu 4-stroke outboard bought new in 2010, transom hung tiller with tiller mate, furling genoa, DSC VHF radio, Origa double burner spirit stove, Simrad T10 autopilot, cool box, NASA Clipper Duet (depth, log, speed) and Nasa clipper wind instruments, compass, Windex, radar reflector, navigation lights with LED tricolour, sprayhood, spray dodgers, full size cover for winter storage, heads (Jabsco flushing sea toilet) and washbasin, anchors, removable chart table, boat hook, warps, etc. etc. Two manual lifejackets also included, both require servicing. Outboard Engine Kittiwake is powered by a 9.8 hp Tohatsu 4-stroke outboard bought new in 2010 by the previous owner at cost of £2000 (very little hours, that's why we're selling!). It has an electric start and alternator to charge the two on-board batteries and is operated from remotes. It has been professionally serviced each year and currently it is in winter storage with Home Marine at Emsworth, who have completed the last three services. Sails Mainsail is serviceable with some repairs,  Furling genoa is in good condition Interior Supposedly five/six berths but two would be for children after converting the dinette table area. Vee forward double berth, quarter berth, single berth to port and dinette children’s double berth. All interior berth cushions replaced at a cost of £1800 in 2009/10. Heads include manual flush sea toilet plus wash basin. Galley includes Origa two-burner spirit stove, small sink with manual pump/tap (water supply from on-board tank), storage for food and pots, etc. Dinette table clips into place and can be lowered for conversion to children’s double berth. Survey We had survey carried out in November 2011 prior to purchase, which is available to prospective purchasers. All important jobs identified has been completed. Work Completed during Ownership Antifouled each year and freshly anti-fouled following keel treatment with Metalshield primer and topcoat (19 March 2017).   Antislip paint renewed on deck, cabin top, etc. (19 March 2017, not quite complete in cockpit). Outhaul and reefing lines replaced (2016). Guard rails replaced  to upgrade from the plastic coated originals to 316 stainless steel, 19 strand wire with pelican hooks at cockpit ends to facilitate boarding and MOB recovery (2015).   Guardrail stanchions and shroud supports reinforced in 2014 using 316 stainless steel plates (2014).  Masthead and running light wiring replaced with tinned wire and tricolour bulb replaced with LED (2013).  Mains electric with two double 13 amp sockets via consumer unit added (2013). Rudder support strengthened and larger diameter rudder pin added (2013).  Tiller connection to rudder rebuilt with stainless steel packing plates to remove play (2013). Windex (wind direction unit) added (2013). Furling line replaced (2012). Batteries properly secured (2012). Log sender unit (boat speed) and wind sender unit (wind speed and direction)  replaced (2012).   Exterior woodwork re-varnished with 3 or 4 coats several times after removal of old varnish. (Decided now that varnishing external wooden fittings is a waste of time and varnish to be removed and teak fittings to be oiled instead). Plus lots of tidying up and other minor jobs. General Comments Very well maintained over the past 5 years. History of expenditure going back to 2008 (???) and 2011 survey available for inspection by prospective purchasers.
