This auction is for a 32ft replica US Navy PBR patrol boat project - The model of boat immortalised by the movie 'Apocalypse Now'The replica is based on a 'Marine Projects' 32ft motor cruiser, I believe this company went on to become Princess yachts - Needless to say the build quality of the hull is therefore excellent. The profile of the hull was selected for being the absolute closest match to the original and is remarkably similar (See original pic)The replica superstructure was professionally built by an experienced film set engineer, many hundreds of hours went into making this replica as authentic as possible - Fabrication of the steel frame work for the canvas cover, rear deck rail, forward deck gun pit for the twin .50 cals, cabin superstructure etc...She was in regular use up on the Norfolk coast until about five years ago, sadly she was then used as a donor boat for another project at which time she lost her engines and drives. One of the photos shows the PBR out at sea, there was a youtube film of her in action but it looks to have been deleted.The boat is still equipped with twin custom made stainless fuel tanks and steering gear. She has been out in the rain for several years and will need restoring both inside and out. But...the hard work of actually engineering the conversion has of course already been done!Unique opportunity to own the only PBR in the UK, replica or otherwise - Lots of potential for a number of different uses.*** Please note this is a large & very heavy piece of kit. She will need collecting from TW19 by a Hiab crane equipped flat bed truck within 2 weeks of the end of auction ***No reserve, questions welcome, thanks for looking
