This is 'RITA'. She is a 12' long wooden motor dinghy built by WA Souter of Cowes in the 1950's or 60's. She was shown at the Thames Traditional Festival a year or two back but has otherwise seen very little use recently, and has just sat in my garage, looking pretty and collecting dust. Powered by a Stuart Turner P3 engine producing a heady 1.5 HP, she clips along at a fair speed. Built to be swung into the water from a larger boat as the owners launch she was intended for runs ashore for shopping trips or pub exploration. She comes complete with seat cushions, mooring warps and fenders and is ready for use this season. Entries to the Thames Traditional Boat Festival have not yet closed, so you could be showing off a vintage classic this July on the rowing course at Henley!
