THIS SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED ON December 25 ,2016 ON A 1966 HATTERAS OFF SURFSIDE. THE BOAT HAD BEEN A DOCK FIXTURE IN A SEMI FRESH WATER CANAL[BRACKISH] FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS . THIS, RESULTED IN THE NEAR ENTIRE BOTTOM OF THE VESSEL TO BE ENCAPSULATED WITH HARD AND SOFT GROWTH. FORTUNATELY FOR THE OWNER, THIS WORKED IN THEIR BENEFIT AS THE GROWTH ACTUALLY ACTED LIKE A SEALANT AND KEPT MUCH OF THE HULL PROTECTED. THERE WAS SLIGHT WEAR AND TEAR ALONG THE KEEL BUT THIS WAS TO BE EXPECTED ON A VESSEL OF THIS AGE. AFTER A THOROUGH INSPECTIONS OF THE AREAS AFFECTED, THEY IN MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION, WERE DETERMINED TO BE COSMETIC. BOTH PROPS WERE INITIALLY SEIZED FROM GROWTH AND LACK OF USE WHICH WERE REPLACED WITH 2 BRAND NEW BRASS PROPS ON DATE OF SERVICE. THE REMAINING PAINT ON HERE IS FULLY COVERING THE
IN SUMMARY, THE HATTERAS HULL HAS SOME NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR FOR A VESSEL OF THIS AGE. AFTER A FULL AND THOROUGH INSPECTION IT WAS DEEMED TO BE SERVICEABLE. THE RUNNING GEAR WAS REPLACED[PROPS] AND THE BOTTOM PAINT IS IN GOOD SHAPE WITH ONLY A FEW LIGHT SCRATCHES. QUITE A SURPRISING REVELATION TO SEE THAT THE BOAT WAS IN AS GOOD AS CONDITION AS IT IS AFTER THE HULL CLEANING SERVICE. IN CONCLUSION, THE VESSEL AFTER BEEN SERVICED BELOW THE WATERLINE IS DEEMED READY TO TRAVEL. THIS SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED BY SCOTT HARTPENCE
