Welcome to the 5-day auction of my classic 1970’s Broom Scorpio She’s being re-listed as the previous winning bidder appeared to get cold-feet within minutes of the auction ending, and has asked me to cancel the transaction. I’ve owned “Love Me Tender” for 3 years now and she’s brought me and my family enormous fun, but it’s now time to let her go as we simply don’t use her enough to justify the cost of the river licence. She was designed by Jack Broom of John Broom Boats in Norfolk and is 15ft (4.57m) long with a beam of 6ft (1.83m). She comes in her original gel-coat, and with fully working removable/sliding roof. There is no canopy or frame at the rear, and although this has never particularly bothered us, I believe you can find replacements fairly easily. I replaced the screen 2 years ago at a cost of £500 so that looks perfect, but the boat could do with some general TLC to make her look stunning again. Her hull and transom are both in good order(needs a clean as its been in the water for 3 years), as is the internal area and seats. There are also a few miscellaneous fenders and lines which I’ll include in the sale. The outboard; a pull-start 20hp Mercury with remotes and steering, is in good condition and was running perfectly at the time it came out of the water last week. It had a full service at the end of the last summer and comes with an Atlantic Slot Lock worth £65. The trailer is a single-axle and comes with a full lightboard and winch. It hasn’t been used since the boat was towed 60 miles trouble-free from Windsor to my house near Harlow, but it keeps air in the tyres and appears to be absolutely fine. It’ll be sad to see her go, but will bring a great deal of happiness to her new owner. She’s a lovely boat, which with some cosmetic love over a couple of weekends would be a real head-tuner again. She’s available to view anytime up until the auction end 3 miles from Harlow in Essex. Thanks for looking, and please feel free to get in contact via eBay should you have any questions.
