ROSANNA has been neglected for the past 2 yrs due to ill health that i haven't overcome, so i have to sell as she needs a new owner to take care and sail her as she needs to be. A weeks TLC will bring her back to life, she breaths under sail. re-build costs alone were £29000 without any electronics, my labour for free original and latest surveyers advised to insure her for £56k as she is today Offers considered By Steffan Meyric-Hughes Classic Boat May 12, 2014 What’s going on in boatyards and backyards in Britain and around the world. From May 2014 issue (CB311) GRIMSBY, LINCOLNSHIRE, UK Smack yacht restored Rosanna, photo c/o John Wragg Rosanna, a one-off gaff rigged yawl built in 1960 by Everson & Sons of Woodbridge, was being lifted out for her annual maintenance as we went to press. Formerly Glee, Rosanna was built along the lines of a retired fishing smack, but “refined through from amidships aft to produce a handsome, counter-sterned yacht”, her shipwright/joiner owner John Wragg told CB. Soon after her launch, Maurice Griffiths redesigned the sail plan from cutter to yawl, as her original owner found her “a little too much on the helm”. Now she’s a “sturdy vessel perfectly balanced and a delight to sail”, said John, who rebuilt her between 2001 and 2007. This year, the job list is a little longer than usual, as John is going with Rosanna, to do some serious British cruising. A totally original & unique Classic yacht, an only one. Rosanna ( formerly Glee ) was custom built by Eversons of Woodbridge. The lines were lifted from a retired Essex fishing smack and from amidships aft fined through to produce a handsome counter sterned yacht, giving her 30ft LOD. Her underwater profile is powerful and sweet. Maurice Griffiths designed the sail plan, which provides for excellent cruising options. She is a well balanced & sturdy vessel with a seakindly motion, a delight to sail, no slouch and quick under the reacher. Click on photos for full screen. I purchased her in 2001 as a restoration project that developed into a rebuild with new high grade materials used from the external cast iron keel up, original mast, boom, Gaff, hatches, bronze portholes, various fittings, new cross trees & mizzen mast . 1 ton of Newly cast shaped internal lead trimming ballast, coachscrewed fore & aft through industrial rubber onto timbers. The Mahogany superstructure & below deck layout are re-designed and the new cockpit & swept deck is 8mm Iroko epoxied on epoxy sealed marine ply. I have been sailing her since 2007. I am a shipwright and joiner. More detail can be found on the survey carried out before re-launch as with more recent 27/11/12 survey. Interested parties please ask for these to be emailed.
