Hello All,
heres the story... This 29' Bayliner Command Bridge was originally bought in NY and run solely on Round Lake--Its name is the Kathleen Anne and I didn't change it after purchase. I picked it up in Portland CT at Yankee Boat Yard and had it serviced and launched--it then spent the last several summers running solely up and down the CT River from Hamburg Cove to Hartford for fireworks and rendezvous etc...It has never been run in salt... period... end of sentence... The 260 hp 350 Chevy will push this boat on plane at ~20 mph in the 3000--3200 rpm range without opening the 4 barrel, open it up and she will go 30 mph at 4800 rpm with 4 people on board and gear / 85 gallons of fuel (holds a touch over 100) and 50 gallons of waterLast fall after a perfect summer I noticed that the jack shaft bearing was making a bit of noise... I pulled the motor (I work at a shop P/T---that's why boat is in Niantic...) and as part of a routine check I did a compression check---7 cylinders came up at 195 and the last one (number 5...) came up at 120... Well I pulled the head off and found that the valve had rusted and the engine was in need of a valve job---rest of the motor looks like brand new inside including the cross hatch in bores!So---currently the motor is out... the outdrive (Volvo Penta 280) is off and the heads need to be freshened and the motor put back together / set back in boat. I went and purchased a 32' version of this boat and have decided to offer it for sale to someone that wants to put it back together and get it running---it could be done over a weekend easy enough. Its clean, the motor / manifolds/risers look like new... its on a good trailer and would make someone a heck of a beautiful family cruiser to go out to Block or across to Long Island... Boat weighs ~7200 on the trailer and I pulled it with my 1500 Silverado Crew Cab Z71 no problem.
