This is "TARA"  -  a superb example of the classic French-built CHASSIRON class designed by naval architect Michel Jubert and constructed by the yachtbuilder Edouard Richard of Marennes on the Brittany coast in 1970.  This is believed to be the last example of this classic that was traditionally built in mahogany on oak with teak deck and superstructure before production was changed to GRP to compete with Benetau etc.  This change proved to be disastrous and Chantier Richard then went into receivership despite an attempt by Mr Peugeot of Peugeot cars to save this historic yard. This class is designed for long-distance ocean cruising and TARA has a windvane automatic steering system fitted to the counter for single-handed sailing.A 30hp Nannidiesel engine with Hurth hydraulic gearbox provides lots of power and drives the yacht at hull speed. The Taylor flued diesel heater and good insulation keeps the whole boat warm and dry which makes her a comfortable live-aboard all yearTARA is lying afloat and ready to go at her pontoon berth in Ternuezen, just over the Belgian border and just over an hour's drive from the Dunkirk ferry terminal. Moorings are paid but only available until the beginning of July due to compulsory purchase of the boatyard after which she will have to be moved to a new berth.Full details and more photos available on request either by Ebay messenger or phone to 07787 507519.TARA has been in present ownership for 12 years but advancing age means that she must find a new owner with a passion for the classic and an eye to investment since well-kept classics are becoming more scarce and sought-after as their eye-catching lines and character are getting wider recognition.Would be prepared to exchange for a motor-caravan of roughly similar value, adjustment either way
